YOUR PURPOSE
1. What are you writing?
He is writing an email on the new insurance policy.
2. What outcome do you desire?
The goal is for the new policy to be understood and accepted by the employees.
3. Who is the reader?
The reader is the company employees.
CREATING USEFUL COMMUNCATION
1. What task will your communication help your reader perform?
The reader will hopefully consider is to be motivated to quit smoking so they dot have to
pay more in health insurance.
3. How will the reader search for the information?
The reader will read in sequential reading from beginning to end.
4. How will the reader use the information?
Determine how the information will affect him or her.
CREATING PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATION
1. What is your readers attitude toward the subject? What do you want it to be?
The smoking readers will not be happy with this subject. The goal is to make them more
understanding and motivated to quit smoking.
2. What is the readers attitude towards you? What do you want it to be?
The reader thinks the boss is insensitive; however he wants to be portrayed as a good
motivational boss.
3. What is the readers attitude toward the organization? What do you want it to be?
The reader does not have a good attitude towards the organization because they think the
boss is insensitive. The boss wants the readers to like where they work to improve
productivity.
READERS PROFLE
1. Job title
This new policy will is for everyone n the builing with evry job ttle.
2. Familiarity to your topic.
The reader will not be familiar to this new policy and will have little time to adust
3. Familiarity to your spatiality.
The readers will know that the policy s coming from the boss
4. Relationship with you
The readers believe the boss is insensitive
5. Personal characteristics you should take into account
Some of the readers are addicted to smoking and may need an opportunity to quit before
this policy comes in. Some of the employees may not take this well.
6. Cultural characteristics you should take into account

Work culture is about making money, and taking more money away for some and not
others will upset employees, this needs to be taken into consideration
7. Who else might read you communication?
Upper management might read this communication and the families of the employees
which can affect the opinions of the community around the company
CONTEXT
1. What features of the context may affect the way the reader reads the communication?
Using diction that creates a positive tone will affect the way the reader reads the
communication.
2. What expectations, regulations, or other factors constrain the way you can write?
Since this is work related the writing is expected to be very professional, and informative.
ETHICAL TREATMENT OF STAKEHOLDERS
1. Who, besides the reader, are stakeholders in your communication? Any one involved
with the company is a stakeholder. The communication affects employee morale which
has a domino effect throughout the company.
2. How will they view its impact on them?
In this case it will have a negative impact because the employee morale was impacted
negatively.
