OBJECTIVES:
Psychomotor
1. The student will 1.4 expand the ability to incorporate spatial concepts with movement problems.
Cognitive
1. The student will 2.1 create and improvise movement patterns and sequences.
2. The student will 2.2 demonstrate multiple solutions in response to a given movement problem (e.g.,
in how many ways can you travel from point A to point B?).
Affective
1. The student will be able to 5.4 describe how dancing requires good health-related habits (e.g.,
adequate nutrition, water, and rest; proper preparation for physical activity).
CALIFORNIA DANCE/PE STANDARDS:
Introductory/Warm-up Activity:
Simon Says: 5.4 the student will be able to describe how dancing requires good health-related habits
(e.g., adequate nutrition, water, and rest; proper preparation for physical activity), such as stretching
before and after an activity.
Lesson Focus:
Bean Bag Challenge: Students will be using a variety of body parts as well as
movements and (2.1) create /improvise movement patterns and sequences. This can be done by
allowing the students to come up with a pattern of their own during the lesson.
Closing/Cool Down Activity:
Stretches: Students will 4.8 compare and contrast changes in heart rate before, during, and after
physical activity.

Bean Bag Challenge
15 seconds per command
Balance the beanbag on their head, nose,
forehead, nose, shoulder, hand, elbow,
tummy, back, knee and foot
Balance beanbag on their head and move
up and down
Sit down with the beanbag on their head
and stand back up
Balance beanbag on their head and walk in
a zigzag pattern, curved path, straight path,
have students come up with their own
pattern
Balance beanbag on their foot and swing
back and forth
Hold the beanbag in an outstretched arm
and touch the bag with their opposite foot
while having arm straight out
Move like your favorite animal
