Nick was born on the same day as Ryan, in a small town called High Point. In this town, one
half of the city had a higher aggravated assault rate compared to the other half of town. The west side
of High Point had an aggravated assault rate of 32.43-63.91 (per 100,000) while the eastern half of the
city had an aggravated assault rate of 63.92-125.07 (per 100,000). However, with the discovery of the
anti-aging cure, the landscape of statistics of aggravated assault and crime overall was going to change.
Nick's family could afford to give him the cure while Ryan's parents could not. After waiting for the
right time to receive the cure, Nick got the shot at the age of 30.
Every since he's received the cure, the population growth rate of the entire world had reached a
new high. There were now more people living on Earth than previously anticipated by experts. The
composition of Earth's population consisted primarily of middle-aged adults that had taken the antiaging cure. Also, the general population's view on crime had begun to change in the time following the
manifestation of the anti-aging cure. With less people dying, more people saw crime, especially
murder, as a means of controlling the population of the world. There were two factions regarding the
benefits and costs of the anti-aging cure. One group believed that the cure was going to throw the cycle
of life off balance while the other group praised its medical innovations.
The two groups often engaged in heated debates and would sometimes resort to violence to try
and assert their dominance over the other group. All these factors that influenced crime: population
density and composition, along with perceptions of crime, were ultimately changed due to the antiaging cure. Nick started the notice an increase in crime in his current city of Greenville. Everywhere he
looked he saw protests from either anti-cure activists or pro-cure activists. Nick remembered reading
from a report awhile back that the violent crime rate of Greenville was 83.27-152.22 (per 100,000) for
2012. He didn't have to search for the crime reports for the current year because everyday there was
someone was murdered, assaulted, or physically handicapped.

Nick had figured that the increase in crime was due to the growing tension between pro-cure
and anti-cure activists. He feared for his own safety because everyone who received the anti-aging cure
was tattooed with their cure date on their left wrist, which marked him as a target for anti-cure
extremists. The anti-cure extremists were a small group of people who go around physically disabling
people who take the cure. For example, a man who recently received the cure in Austin, Texas was
blinded shortly after. Since then, Nick has always worn clothes that would cover his arms. However,
hiding his tattoo wasn't enough. Anti-cure extremists obtained access to a list of people who took the
cure.
For some time, Nick sought protection from the police department of Greenville but received
little sympathy. He suspected that the governing body of the town wanted the crime to run it's course to
bring the population levels back to a sustainable amount. His biggest fear turned into reality when he
was murdered 23 years after his cure date.

The two groups often engaged in heated debates and would sometimes resort to violence to try
and assert their dominance over the other group. All these factors that influenced crime: population
density and composition, along with perceptions of crime, were ultimately changed due to the antiaging cure. Ryan did not see evidence of an increase in crime in his current city of Raleigh.
Everywhere he looked he people who had not taken the cure carry on with their daily lives. Ryan
remembered reading from a report awhile back that the violent crime rate of Raleigh was at most 18.93
(per 100,000) for 2012. He didn't have to search for the crime reports for the current year because there
was rarely an incident in which anyone was murdered, assaulted, or physically handicapped.
Ryan had figured that the lack in crime was due to the increased number of people who did not
take the cure in his town. He did not fear for his own safety because very few people in his town
received the anti-aging cure. Those who did were tattooed with their cure date on their left wrist, which
marked them as a target for anti-cure extremists. The anti-cure extremists were a small group of people

morality of the anti-aging cure. Ryan recently found out that anti-cure extremists obtained access to a
list of people who took the cure.

For some time, Ryan followed the news covering the clashes between pro-cure activist and anticure activists. He suspected that the governing body of the nation wanted the crime to run it's course to
bring the population levels back to a sustainable amount. Far later in his life, Ryan passed away in his
sleep 46 years after Nick received his cure.
