MultiMedia Project Summary Sheet

Danielle Green
MCOM 262 Lab
Professor Kistler
1.) The Topic: The PowerPoint presentation is on the life/about the grey wolf. The facts about
grey wolves are each separated into several slide providing information about their diet, physical
description, wolf pack, and reproduction, etc. which include the many beautiful visuals of the
grey wolves. Each slide gives information on the life and facts of grey wolves and what occurs in
that and how they interact with each other and their surroundings. These amazing animals are
engager and conservations are working to keep the grey wolf specie alive and growing. The
presentation enlightens the sixth graders in middle school. The purpose of the Grey wolf
presentation is to inform the sixth graders about the life of a gray wolf, what they look like and
how they survive in the wild. The presentation provides the students with fun and interesting
facts about wolves that they may not have previous known.
2.) The Audience: The class viewing the Grey wolf presentation is the sixth graders of Mrs.
Eatons class. It is in a Whitney E. Houston Academy in East Orange, New Jersey. It consists of
18 students: ten girls and eight boys. They are between the ages of elven and twelve years old.
All of the children are of different ethnicities and backgrounds. The class previously learned
about endanger wild animals and how they live in the wild. Whitney E. Houston Academy is
located in a city area.
There is one student with intellectual learning disability (Autism) in the class. He has Delays in
the ability to process verbal or written language. I also give her a paper in the beginning of the
week telling her what we are doing and where we will be for every hour of the class time.
Another strategy I use is to give the student the time needed to process a fact or a question,
before expecting a response. The class previously learned about different wild animals and how
they function in their natural habitat and he seems to be really enjoying learning and studying
about wild animals.
3.) The Objectives
a. Given a diagram of the grey wolfs body structure, students will be able to identify the body
parts and how they vital to the animals defense and survival when asked with one hundred
percent accuracy.
i. The objective will be met in slide 4 where the students will learn about the varies parts
of
the grey wolf.
b. Given where the types of habitats grey wolves live in, students will be able to identify the
aspects of the habitats and how they use the land to survive and travel.
ii. The objective will be met in slides 3-5, 7-9 and 11-13 where the type of habitats, diet
and
corresponding photos are shown and the answer following. In real life, the
students will gather their own data on the grey wolves and use the information to create their
own short
book about the wild animal.
c. Given information on grey wolves reproduce students will be able to discuss facts about their
reproduction process

iii. The objective will be met in slides 12 and 13 where the facts about reproduction will
be given to them.
4.) Support Media: The support media I used was a video from www.YouTube.com. It is used
in the slide about how wolves communicate through howling. The video involves wolves in their
natural environment howling as a form of communication amongst the wolf pack. The purpose of
the video is to give the sixth graders the opportunity to experience the various sounds grey
wolves make when communicate with other wolves.
ISTE Standards:
1. Facilitate and inspire students learning and creativity
Students will write a reflection/journal by using varies websites and tools about
wolves and why they are important to the ecosystem to reveal the students abilities to think
and be creative with their writing,
2. Design and develop digital age appreciate learning experiences and assessments
Students will collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed
decisions by using information from the PowerPoint on how wolves reservations work and why
its important to keep the wolf specie alive and out of endangerment. With their research and data
analyze they can then complete their own journals about their thoughts on why wolves are
needed in the ecosystem.
6.) Follow-Up Activities:
1. Since we learned about grey wolves we are going to learn about other types of wolves and
compare and contrast what they have in common and what are some aspects that make them
different.
2. We are going to label the important parts of the grey wolves and what makes them so vital to
the survival of the wolf. Discuss how they survive in the wild and their natural instincts that are
unique to the grey wolves and put together a personal book about gray wolves.
3. We can visit a local wild life exhibit where the students can not only learn about wolves but
other surrounding wild animals and how the work together to survive in their natural habitat. The
students can take down information, design their own presentation about the exhibit and share it
with their fellow classmates.
