Introduction: How will you introduce this lesson in a manner that
engages students and activates their thinking?

I DO: Give instructions to the class.

Instructions are as followed:
-Each student will receive a paper bag.
-Each paper bag has a picture on the front of it. Ex: Castle, Ambulance, Pig,
etc.

-Students will have a choice of which bag they want to pick based only on
the outside picture.

5 Minutes
Distributing bags

10 Minutes for
explanation and
clarification

-Inside the bags, the students have a list of vocabulary words (15).
-Then students will have to write a story that makes sense with the words
within their bag.

Teaching/Learning Sequence: What steps and activities are

you going to use to help students acquire and practice the
knowledge, skills and/or attitudes needed to meet the outcome?

The teacher will make sure the instructions are clear and
students understand what is expected of them.

Walking around the classroom to make sure the students

are working, and are engaged. (Make sure they are writing

35 Minutes for students to

write, while teacher
circulates

during this period and following instructions- using their vocab

words)

Answer any questions the students may have if they seem

lost on what they are supposed to be doing.

Closure: How will you solidify the learning that has taken
place and deepen the learning process?
-

Refer back to our learning intention- I can use language in

creative and playful ways to develop style and increase my
creative writing skills.
Talk, did we meet that learning intention?

Allow students who wish to share their work with the class.

Collect the students final copies to review their work.

Hand it back the next day.

10 Minutes for clean up and

some sharing

7.
Accommodations (adaptations, extensions, other): How will you plan for
students who have learning/behaviour difficulties or require enrichment?

Ipads will be provided for students in the class who struggle with writing.

The teacher will circulate around the classroom as the students work and be aware of any ch
having.
-

The teacher can also offer feedback and answer questions

Reflection:
This lesson was successful when I taught it in my previous practicum. Going back
over my lesson and changing some things was very helpful for clarifying how I

would teach it better next time. I have now changed this lesson to the new
curriculum as well (I taught this lesson when I taught with the old curric.)
