CLASSROOM CODE OF CONDUCT

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom management main objective is to provide a guideline that gives students a sense of
predictability by knowing the boundaries and rules of the classroom. Teachers can not automatically
expect students to know how to behave because every class is different and every teacher have different
rules. The first thing teachers should do at the beginning of each semester is to teach their rules and
structure which does not take away from instructional time.
Class Rules:
1. No talking without permission
2. No one is allowed out of their seat without permission
3. Every is demanded / required / expected to do their own work
The rules not only need to be verbalized, but also needs to be taught like any new concept with examples
of what is needed to comply with the rules. These rules need to be monitored and retaught throughout
the semester. Teachers rules need to guide students behavior by showing them what will not be
tolerated. Most students rather know what the rules of the class are up front, instead of finding out the
rules as they break them which probably feels like walking through a mine field. Teacher expectations
can also reinforce these behaviors.
