Language and literacy is a very important and key aspect to a humans identity and

economic future. Language is a form of human communication, whether is it written

or spoken. Language is how words are used in a specific type of way. We as humans
use language through our emotions and thoughts. Its how we communicate with
others. Literacy is the ability to read and write. Literacy is related to language
because if we didnt have the ability to read, design, write, listen and speak it would
be hard for humans to communicate with each other. Literacy isnt just about
reading and writing but it is also important because it is how a person uses those
skills in their everyday lives. The older we get, the more important a persons
literacy skills becomes. or example, when a person gets out into the work field,
employees must have a college degree, must be able to work in teams and

a variety of English language used in professional communication in the 'noted

&states. &standard $English is the correct form of English that is grammatically
correct, and it basically covers any form of English which is written and spoken
correctly, using (renunciation. Writing an essay is an example of using &standard
English with a sentence saying )I will never do anything like that again.* This
sentence is grammatically correct and has no errors. Language represents
individuals social class because based on how well someone speaks and reads, you
can get an idea of where they are from. &social classes use languages differently.
or example, a person who is poor and uneducated will not speak his or her
language as fluent, clear, and efficient as someone who is well educated. It can also
affect accents, slang uses and grammar

When someone speaks and has a &punish accent, that person might probably be
from out of the country like +Dominic republic or (Puerto icon. &social class is
how people are grouped together based on their race, identity and more. Its kind of
how we are separated amongst each other as individuals. ace refers to a persons
physical features such as skin, the shape of our eyes, the si-e of our noses or brows,
and more. Language allows us to assign people into different races. "Signing people
into different social classes is also how stereotypes are formed. or example, if a
person is really good at using chopsticks or doing karate, it wont be hard to tell that
person is "Sian or hinges. It isnt hard to separate an "African "American from an
"Sian based on their appearance alone. /ur ability to place others in racial
categories using nonvisual information like spoken language shows what we as
individuals thinks about race. Languages has given us the ability to view race as it
has been manipulated to exploit racial stereotypes for many years now. ode
switching is the practice of alternating between two or more languages or varieties
of language in conversations. very one who speaks has learned to code switch
depending on the situation and setting. In an educational content, code switching is

defined as the practice of switching between a primary and a secondary language

or discourse. I am very effective at code switching when I am speaking because I
adjust and change my language in which I speak based on the audience I am
speaking to. or example, I talk differently around my friends than I do with my
family. 0ou cant speak the same around black people than you do around any other
race because we are different individuals. I dont talk the same around my friends
as I do my family because there are certain things that me and my friends talk
about that I can talk to about with my family members. I use a different tone when I
am talking to my friends. When I talk around

my family, I speak more proper because I will get in trouble if I use the same tone
and language that I do around my friends. 1y good verbal communication skills
represents because its shows that I am very enthused and have good enthusiasm. I
am very determined and I always get told that I speak very proper. or example,
when I am at work and serving customers, it is very important to have
communication skills because my job depends on getting tips. I am a people person
and I have no problem with getting along with people. customers compliment me
all the time because of how well I talk. In addition, my verbal communication skills
represents me because I am always smiling, laughing. When people talk to me for
the first time, they like me because I am chilled, fun, and exciting. /n the other
hand, writing is very important to me because who I am as a person. The way I
write is how I speak. I write neat and properly because that is how I carry myself on
a daily basis. I take my writing very serious because you can judge and tell a lot
about a person based on the way they write. That also goes for communication
skills. 0ou can judge a person on how well they speak and communicate toward
others. There is a strong relationship between communication and literacy skills.
Literacy is the ability to read, view and write. To know that certain letters make
certain sounds and that by manipulating the letters makes different sounds and
meanings. The ability to communicate enables a child to access literacy and literacy
supports the need to communicate. or instance, a child with poor
language2communication skills will also have difficulty with reading and writing.
The way I can improve my language and literacy skills is to read more and talk to
different individuals more often because communications major key in the real
world when I start working and networking.
