Consultant Report Reflective Essay
The consultant report consisted of analyzing the communication practices from the
different discourse communities that I was using in order to show the best practices
followed by the communication breakdowns. By doing that I showed the crossappropriation by suggesting to use the best communication practices from one community
into the other. This assignment helps me to analyze in detail and to be stronger by
comparing and contrasting the communication practices in the discourse communities. Now
I feel that I am more competent at doing assignments that desire those type of requirements.
More than helping me of becoming a better writer in my field it helps me to become
stronger as writing any report from different types of discourse communities.
The report can be improved by changing words to make it look more appropriate for the
audience. In that assignment, I believe that I did a good gob as providing the information
that the report required. I had revisions by my instructor, two of my classmates, and from
the times that I went to the writing center. In addition, I corrected all the things that they
told me to do so, I think that I did a strong final draft but all practice that I had so far helped
me to facilitate my progress from the first draft to the last one. By having people that
revised my process of the report, I consider that all the revision progress was effective
because it is better to revise a paper from different perspectives than just one. That is one
think that I support as revising a paper because when I read my stuff I understand what I as
trying to say but by having a different audience the meaning can change and by that I can
correct what the other audience believe is not appropriate. Also, all the writings that I had in
the class provide me a lot of practice that helps me to improve my writing as developing
more ideas and having better grammar.
This project took me about 6 or 7 drafts where I needed to continue adding information and
deleting what was unnecessary. My first draft had a lack of information as well as grammar
and I was missing all the organization and the executive summary. I continued to work in
the report for like about 4 drafts where I had to specify my audience and change the
information because I was demonstrating that my information was not true because I was
not specific as explaining. Once I corrected all the wrong information I added the executive
summary. The three final drafts were about adding some little things, and fixing my
executive summary so it would be more appropriate for my audience.
Overall the consultant report taught me that the discourse communities I am planning to go
once I graduate, have breakdowns as communicating with each other as well as with
clients. Those breakdowns can be changed by using some of the practices that other

communities are using. All applied in the report can be used by my seeking career of social
work and different communities too.
