MEDIA RELEASE For Immediate Release May 12, 2010 -TRAFFIC ADVISORY- ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, MAY 15, 2010. IN DOWNTOWN WATERTOWN The annual Armed Forces Day Parade, an Operation Yellow Ribbon event sponsored by the Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization, Northern New York-Fort Drum Chapter of the Association of the United States Army, USO Fort Drum, and Operation Yellow Ribbon will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 on Washington Street in Watertown. The parade will start at Watertown High School at 10:00 a.m., and proceed down Washington Street to the reviewing stand located in downtown in front of the Dulles State Office Building. Beginning at m. and during the parade, Washington Street from Brook Drive to Stone Street will be om to vehicular traffic. Temporary barricades, signage and a detour route will be established for the event and through traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes. Also on Saturday, May 15, 2010, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and lasting through 4:00 p.m., the Downtown Business Association will be hosting the Armed Forces Day Festival on the north side of Public Square. The festival, which is free to the public, will include food and craft vendors, live music in the gazebo and a vintage auto, classic car and bike display. n Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., the north side of Public Square will be Closed to parking and vehicular traffic.
