Show me evidence of one instance where a well-known dogman culled a manbiter that was a winning
pitdog or producer, or even showed potential in either area. There is no evidence to suggest such dogs
were regularly culled, however, there is ample evidence to suggest the contrary:
Gr. Ch. Gambler's Virgil - while in a rage, tried to bite the Gambler, and actually tore the shirt off of
Gambler's back as he tried to get away from him. Gambler thought very seriously about putting the dog
down, but instead decided to roll him. Evidently he liked what he saw and by the tender age of just
over 18 months, Virgil became a 1X winner.
Adams' Gr. Ch. Zebo ROM - attacked Mr. Adams' son and nearly took his son's ear off. After the
request of Mr. Adams' wife, Zebo was sold again, this time to Mr. Johnson who fought him twice more.
Loposay's Buster ROM - The late Barney Fife and his brother, Matt, went traveling through North
Carolina to visit Mrs. Loposay and then go to the Fork Farm, to see Mr. Grady Cummings. Upon arrival
to Mrs. Loposay's, they were able to see the great producer Buster, who made an attempt to bite both
of them.
Stepp's Gr. Ch. Angus - his only downfall was he was a man-biter, such as many of the best-to-be
were ie; Gr Ch Art (ROM), Gr Ch Zebo (ROM), Dbl Gr Ch Tornado, Ch Honeybunch (ROM), and Ch
Yellow John (ROM) just to name a few...
Indian Bolio ROM - would scream with rage until he was released into the other dog. Occasionally, he
would bite you if not released quick enough.
...and Bullyson
...and Chinaman
...and so on.
Earl Tudor's wife was bitten so many times by Earl's dogs that her legs were covered in scars. When
the issue was raised regarding the temperament of the Tudor dogs, Earl replied, "If you're dumb
enough to get bit by one of my dogs, that's your fault!"
An uncle of mine was farmed some brood dogs by David Tant. One day my uncle went to take one of
these dogs outside the house when it "chewed him from wrist to elbow." Tant refused to do anything
about it. My uncle wanted to return the dog, but Tant told him that if he returned that one, he would

have to return the others as well. Since the dogs carried a high value in both the pit and brood pen,
they stayed where they were. The idea of culling was, in Tant's words, "out of the question."
Upon visiting Tant's yard, one would find that many of his dogs would either try to hide from you, or try
to eat you.
Need I continue?
And just because I post the truth, doesn't mean I condone it, no more than any history text book
condones war, or slavery, or genocide.

4th Match C. Beasley vs. Starsky & Hutch M65 Ref. B. Clouse
Beasley's red and white handled by Joe Alvarado. Hutch handling a black. At the scales,
while weighing the red and white, who is a bad man-eater, Alvarado lost control of the dog and he
headed right for Earl Maloney and bit him in the chest. Bill Carr kicked him loose and was bitten
himself, very bad, just above the rib cage. That big crazy dog then headed for the crowd with his
mouth wide open. Some one could have been seriously hurt if Bill Carr hadn't intercepted him
again, this time getting bit on the leg, through his boot. They finally got the dog under control and
the match was on. Alvarado got fouled out for some bad handling in his corner and the Winner;
Starsky & Hutch's black dog.
It would be a good idea to muzzle known man-eaters to prevent something like this from
happening again.

Trough the years, the ,,Man Biters,, have been of special interest to me since, in theory, most are not
supossed to be game. Simple observation tells me there are as many game man biters(percentage
wise) as there are game dogs in the Pit Bull family. Most of the old-timers felt the man biters should be
destroyed and most defenitely never used in a breeding program. I believe a deeper look into these
dogs to be a worthwhile projekt.Through my research and observation, I have concluded that there are
several types of man biters, each of wich deserves recognition and comment. The most acceptable of
the man biters are those that are both protective and territorial. Most bulldogs have this trait to varying
degrees and the beauty of it is that it can be encouraged or discouraged depending on the needs of the
owner. These dogs are usually the more intelligent bulldogs and while they are generally gentle with
people, will become a terror to the suspicious intruder and literally inhale a direct threat to its master or
his property. The second most acceptable man biter is the territorial junk yard dog. This dog gladly
accepts its owners but all others are not welcome in its domain. Off his own property,he is not nearly so
aggressive except when challenged directly. These dogs are not for the novice but can be kept and are
definitely a deterrent to dog thieves and various riffraff. The last acceptable type is the junk yard dog
that will bite anyone anytime, just for the fun of it.Many of these dogs actually have to have their feed
chucked to them even by their owners. These dogs are for the professional only, and most are probably
good candidates for execution. There is also the excitable dog that will bite you to get loose and get
another dog, cat, horse or whatever. These dogs are defenitely not for the amateur and should be kept
from these types of situations as much as possible. Bullyson,Andersons CH Spade and Mesquite Sam
were dogs of this type.To me the most dangerous is the latent man biter that just goes bad without
provocation. These dogs should always be destroyed as their unpredictability makes them an extremely
lethal commodity. This recessive tendency surfaces in other breeds so why should the Pit Bull be any
differend? The percentage of malicious man biters in the Pit Bull family is extremely low. I believe that
through the use of proper breeding methods we can even lower this. Most of the attacks that are given
so much,,news media,, coverage are generally made by dogs of no breeding. Check the records---in
most cases where a bulldog mauls or kills someone, they are dogs that were bred by the amateur
breeder and usually backed by several generations of scatter-bred individuals, most of wich are equally
bred badly. So in many cases the breeder is at fault and in all but a few instances, human error enters
into the mishap. There is much to be said about the man biters but for the sake of good judgement,
everyone who owns one, just like all Pit Bull owners, should be very conscientious. Just one case of
carelessness could mean a law against the breed in your area and turn puplic support from ouer dogs.
That is exactly what we do not need at this point in time. Man biters--keep one if you must, but take
care if you do.

"Back In The Ole Bulldog Days These Manbiters Were Eliminated Immediately."
I hear this over and over again, so let me just ask who, specifically, ever culled a game "man-biter"
back in "The Ole Bulldog Days?"
Earl T never minded feeding man-biters, even though his wife's legs were covered with bite scars.
Some of Tant's dogs would just as soon eat you as look at you. I understand Burns' dogs were even
worse.
I'd like to see someone step foot on V Jackson's yard if he wasn't around.
Carver kept his share of "man-biters," as did many many other famed dogmen.
In most cases, if a dog was good enough to win, it was good enough to live, regardless of who it
wanted to have for dinner.
If I had to cull every dog that bit me for one reason or another, I'd probably just give up and become a
goldfish fancier. I dunno...maybe I just taste better than y'all
I say we add up the collective bite scars of the members of this site, divide that by the total of dogs
we've all culled for being "manbiters," and see what number we come up with.
Ya know why you never hear about gamedogs maiming children? It's because gamedoggers tend to be
responsible folks. If you own gamedogs for very long, you either learn to correct your inefficiencies as a
dog owner, or you give up altogether and buy a cat.
I'm not defending "man-biters." I'm not about that at all. However, I am fully opposed to the notion
that gamedogs are above the territorial and protective instincts shared by 100% of all other domestic
canine breeds. It's a concept that is far more dangerous than that of allowing a human-aggressive dog
to exist if responsibly contained. A "Pit Bull" is a dog first and foremost...

Some dogs can be recognized by titles they earn such as champion, grand champion and register of
merit, Angus is recognized by the title of "Champion of Champions".
Angus' sire was a dog named Willie Brown's Nigger, who was a two time winner, sired by Clayton's Eli, Jr.
bred to his mother, Boudreaux' Spook. Angus' dam, O. Stevens' Heidi, was bred by A. Steinberg from Sly
Fox to Red Pepper (Ed Ritcheson blood) and was a litter mate to Ch. Prince. She was originally owned by
O. Stevens' and matched once at twenty nine and a half pounds. She demonstrated the frustrating style of
hanging on the bottom jaw and discouraging her opponent until Ziggy M. and Tony M. conceded the
match in an hour. Ozzie then traded her to Big Brad and Keummerling, because he didn't have any use
for her, as far as breeding. The bitch she was traded for was a cold gyp, at the time, named Geraldine.
Big Brad tested Angus and because of the fact that Big Brad had numerous winners already on his yard,
he sold Angus to Billy Stepp as a game dog. Angus then went on to shake up the dog world by defeating
Rixey's Coal Cat, Jay's Buster, Crenshaw's Ch. Otis, Keummerling's Ch. Freddie (brother to O. Stevens'
Ch. Homer), Garza's Heman and Love's Tiger, all of which were great dogs. Angus was then hooked into,
the then 3X winner, Ch. Jeep as a rematch for the victory over Stinson and Stepp's Ch. Black Glover.
During the keep, Angus was involved in an accidental kennel fight with Ch. Ruby and was wrecked in the
chest area, thus forcing Stepp to pay the forfeit to J. Crenshaw. After Angus healed from this incident,
they hooked up with Crenshaw to try the Angus / Jeep match again. Unfortunately, Angus got loose once
again and ran straight into Ruby. By the time Stepp got there, the damage was aleady done, because so
much money was riding on this match, Stepp and Co. asked O. Stevens if they could borrow, the 4X
winner, Ch. Homer as a replacement so as not to lose another forfeit. Which is how one of the greatest
matches of all time came about, Crenshaw's Ch. Jeep VS Stevens' Ch. Homer.
Angus wasn't bred many times, but in his few breedings he sired good dogs such as Diaz' Ch. Mac, out of
Torres' George. When bred to Stepp's Ch. Ruby, he produced Broadway Jack's Gee Whiz, Super Gnat's
Guess (2X winner), Super Gnat's Ch. Butch, Suzy, and the 7X winner Racehorse. Also, there was Solo's
Cobra, Big Brad's Loco, Patience, and Tara, Texas Ron's Major, Frankie, Sassy, Evil (who lost to O.
Stevens' Ch. Zero), and Ralph's Prince (who was picked up at 1:57).

He was the sort of dog that would overcome, and adapt to any style that was put before him as his record
shows. In competitions, he defeated many whom went on to become foundation stock for other breeding
programs. From all accounts told he possessed smarts, mouth, ability, gameness (reason he was sold by
Big Brad), structure, his only downfall was he was a man-biter, such as many of the best-to-be were ie; Gr
Ch Art (ROM), Gr Ch Zebo (ROM), Dbl Gr Ch Tornado, Ch Honeybunch (ROM), and Ch Yellow John
(ROM) just to name a few with very similar qualities.

can anyone tell me about zebo? ine been trying to figure out all this bloodline stuff i have found alot about jeep/redboy but
can find absolutley nothing about zebo
Nothing 1st hand from me but if "The Complete Game Dog" is correct Zebo was an absolute nutt. Game,ACE, and a
man-biter. According to Mountain Man he bit or tried to bite everyone who ever owned him including himself. LOL!
Zebo and his offspring are some of my favorite of all bull dogs, that's what I say. ;)

I’ll begin the true story of the dog named "Zebo" by going straight to his most famous match. This match was against a dog
called Yuebank’s "Champion Greaser". In this match Zebo went uphill almost four pounds and won in one hour and fifty
seven minutes. Greaser was renounced to be "unbeatable" at 44 pounds.
"That black dog is a cur!" came the yell from the top of the stands. The noise in the barn dropped so quickly it was scary. It
got so quiet the sound of the dogs feet scraping on the tarp could be heard, as every eye in the barn looked up to see who
had labeled a dog that had never turned or hesitated in his life a "cur". I thought big trouble lay only seconds away, as a slur
like that cannot be ignored. The "Black Dog’s" handler looked up to the top row where the voice had come from and said, "I
don’t appreciate you calling my dog a cur!" The words, though soft spoken, carried a message of seriousness, and then the
handler’s wife said, "After this match is over, you climb in the pit with my husband and we’ll see who’s the cur." This
happened during one of the best matches and biggest upsets I’ve seen since I started in the sport. Both sides thought they
