Theanchorrodsinthisphotoweredamagedbecausetheywerecoveredwithsnowandtheequipmentoperatordidnot
seethem.
Everysituationisdifferent,andwetrytonotmakerecommendationswherebentanchorsareconcernedaswefeelit
isaquestionbetteransweredbytheprojectengineer,ashe/shewillbemorefamiliarwiththespecificsituation.That
said,theAISChasthistosayaboutrepairingdamagedanchorbolts:

ASTMF1554permitsbothcoldandhotbendingofanchorrodstoformhookshowever,bendinginthethreaded
areacanbeaproblem.ItisrecommendedthatonlyGrade36rodsbebentinthefieldandthebendlimitedto45or
less.Rodsuptoabout1indiametercanbecoldbent.Rodsover1canbeheatedto1,200Ftomakebending
easier.Itisrecommendedthatbendingbedoneusingarodbendingdevicecalledahickey.Afterbending,therods
shouldbevisuallyinspectedforcracks.Ifthereisconcernaboutthetensilestrengthoftheanchorrod,therodcan
beloadtested.
2nd EditionoftheAISCDesignGuide1,underBasePlateandAnchorRodDesign

SofieldbendingF1554G36isacceptableaslongasitisnotmorethan45,andisitdonepertheparametersinthe
aboveparagraph.Forothergradesofanchor,orifthebendismorethan45,theprojectengineershouldbeconsulted
inordertomaketheproperdecision.

bendingthewayyoudescribe,butyouwouldneedtoconsultwiththeprojectengineerinordertogethisorher
approval.
