EMBRACE NATIONALISM!
Nationalism. The topic of this weeks
edition of THE DAILY AUSSIE. Today
we concentrate on why you, the
readers should consider nationalism
as your dominant belief.
Now there are other isms that
focus on equality and fairness and
other social and economic issues but
the all-encompassing and superior
ism is nationalism.

We celebrate Australia Day because our country is

worth it. Embrace nationalism to support your
country. Embrace nationalism to show your belief
that Australia is number 1!

It is a risky ism in some cases but it

never fails to inspire hope and
strengthen pride between a nation
and her people

Nationalism is the sense of

patriotism and the feeling of
superiority that one has of
their country. Dont you as
proud Aussies think
Australia is just the most
wonderful country on the
planet?
Our Australian identity and
cultural beliefs and
traditions are unique.
Embracing nationalism only
brings you closer to your
country, our country;
Australia.

Nationalism is present in Australia in many different forms and has been for many years. Today our countrys main
acknowledgement of its greatness is Australia Day. A day many Australians know to be full of pride and excitement. We
improve our cultural identity and solidify ourselves as a nation. Australia is a unique and what makes Australia what it is? Her
people. Us. The proud Australians.
Lamingtons, Uluru, the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, sausage roll, meat pie, kangaroo, koala, Aborignal heritage. You
wont find a bloke in thongs and shorts and a dirty singlet nod his head and say Gday mate anywhere else in the world. We
have so many things unique to our country that make it the best one in the world and this is exactly what nationalism
supports.
Those who are extremely dedicated nationalists go so far as to put themselves into politics and push forward ideals and
strategies for Australia to become even better, creating nationalist parties but you dont have to! Merely embrace nationalism
as your dominant belief. Embrace Australia, the best country in the world for all its splendours!

Anthony D. Smith, Author of Nationalism 2nd Edition

says, Few ideologies can match its power and
resonance, and no other political movement and
symbolic language has such worldwide appeal and
resilience.
He goes on to talk about Nationalism as a form of public
culture and political religion which is something in
Australia that is extremely prominent. Australians have a
cultural identity that has endured and has become
something ingrained within every member of our
society; a cultural and political religion.

Nationalism in the short

term is when we come
together as a nation, uniting
as one with a common
belief or goal as we do on
Australia Day.
But Nationalism in the long
term is when we as
Australians acknowledge the
past. The times when our
country came together that
commemorate.

ANZAC Day. The dawn

service. The day Australian
soldiers fought and died for
our country. Our wonderful
Australia. They died for us
and our freedom, believing
Australia was worth it.
Embrace nationalism.
Embrace Australia as the
greatest nation. Happy
Australia Day. Lest we forget
them. Embrace nationalism.
