ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
As I filled in my self-evaluation grid, I recognized that I showed thorough development in all of them
(competency 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12) and am hoping to show advanced development in all
competencies by the end of my third and fourth stage. However, I believe I showed most advanced
development in competencies 1, 10, 11, and 12.
With regard to competency 1, it was my first time teaching an Ethics and Religious Culture lesson
and it went really well. As competency 1 was a competency I was hoping to further develop when I
completed my first stage, I was happy to have gotten the opportunity to teach a Passover lesson in
a public school. Teaching about a Jewish holiday in a public school was eye opening and helped
me recognize the importance of being sensitive to all religions.
In relation to competency 10, I had the opportunity to cooperate and act as a team member with my
cooperating teacher. The particular event that allowed me to develop well in this competency was

2. I will work on my lesson planning skills by following the Backward Design model. As such, I
will have my lesson objectives clear, which will help me plan activities that will reach my objectives.
Having clear objectives makes it easier to share with students these objectives and work with them
to reach these objectives and help them succeed. Having an inquiry question will also enhance my
units and lesson plans.
3. I will also pay close attention to lesson modification. I will make sure that each lesson not only
has a modification for struggling students or students with special needs, but also for advanced
students who might finish their work more quickly. I will also work on having an alternative activity
planned in case activities do not turn out the way I planned them.
