1-2 detailed, thorough paragraphs that showcase what you KNOW, what you can DO, and your
REFLECTION on your project. The boxes will grow as you type.
KNOW:
Explain the goal or
objective of the course,
what your
project/assignment
was, and how it met
that goal/objective
Discuss what you needed
to know in order to
complete the
project/assignment
effectively and
proficiently, as well as
discussing what you
LEARNED upon
completing it.

DO:
Discuss the process of
what you actually did
in order to complete
your
project/assignment
and what you can do
as a result
o Think - because I
know (this) I can
now do (this)
Discuss new
technologies used,
new subject matter
encountered, new
skills learned or skills
that were improved,
etc. as you worked
through your project.
REFLECT: Reflect on
the process of
completing the
project/assignment (both
steps taken and
knowledge and
experience gained).
What went well? Why?
What could have gone
better? How could you
have improved it?

In my ROP Child Psychology and Development class our objective

was to first learn the development and growth of a fetus into infancy, and
then analyze the behaviors of pre-school aged children. The first semester
involved a thorough, in-depth investigation of the appropriate and effective
uses of contraceptives, the process of fertilization, the growth of a fetus in
the womb, and the process of birth. The second semester was entirely an
analysis of the behaviors of 3-5 year old students through an educational
pre-school where my fellow peers and I taught the students once a week.
My Child Development final was a research paper on a specific Child Psych
topic that was covered during the year. Each student had their own topic to
research and write a 5 page paper about. My topic was pushing a child
too early which can be interpreted multiple ways. I wrote a
comprehensive paper about the effects of violent movies and video games,
exposure to sexual content, parental pressure to compete in sports, and
last but not least, pressure to perform in school. This met the objective of
the course by meeting all aspects of the essay guidelines and reflected my
knowledge from not only the course, but also the extensive research I had
done.
I needed to know MLA format, information on my topic, and how to
construct an essay to reflect my knowledge on the topic. I learned so much
from my research paper and I have never been so invested in an essay
topic. I was entertained by research for the first time in my educational
career. I learned the importance of supervising your childs internet
viewing and limiting their amount of internet browsing in order to protect
them from being exposed to these things before they are ready.
In order to complete the assignment I had to create an outline, give
a scenario so the reader could better understand in what situation might
these things may occur, and develop a thorough analysis of the research I
had to do in order to understand the repercussions of pushing a child too
early. Because of my knowledge of child development I now know what it
might take to be a parent and the importance of participating in your
childs life. I can now write a research paper and conduct thorough
research.
I used the internet as an informational resource. While researching I
came across a lot of new subject matter. The information I researched was
all new subject matter to me, but aside from the information in my
research paper I learned new things about the developing mind of a child. I
honed my writing and reasoning skills while writing my paper and used my
better judgment to form the outline of my paper. As I worked through this
specific project the biggest struggle I encountered was figuring out how to
begin and end a research paper. The Intro and conclusion were the most
important pieces of this paper and figuring out a good flow for both. I also
improved my research skills being that I had never done a research paper.
Thinking back on the completion of this project, the steps I took, and
the knowledge and experience I gained, I feel confidently that I wrote an
excellent paper. The writing came easy to me because I was invested in
the content. I feel my joy of children and passion for learning what makes
them tick was demonstrated eloquently through my language. My writing
was clear and concise. Perhaps I could have gone into more detail about
the subtopics that affect the outcome of a child also, but felt it was
unnecessary. I went into detail about general topics like how the viewing
of pornography at a young age may ultimately alter your childs behaviors.
While I am aware there are many other reasons your child may become a
sexual predator I chose only to go into specific detail about the effects of

over exposure to sexual content. By going into further detail I would have
given my reader a better understanding of how specific examples of
exposure might alter their childs behavior and how it might alter them,
rather than a generalized ambiguous overview.
I demonstrated growth in my knowledge of not only this specific
subject matter but also my writing technique by the completion of this
writing assignment. With every paper I write, the more equipped I become
in writing and developing my vocabulary and language skills. This has
made me a better student all around by preparing me for college and
giving me a reason to research a topic that intrigues me and will soon
become my career. Now not only has this assignment developed my
academic proficiency but also changed the course of my future. Now I
know child development is the right field of study for me,
This particular project was impactful to me as a Clayton Arts
Academy student because I learned how art; like the art of
cinematography, game design, and even advertising can shape a human
being. An artist can create a piece so impactful to its viewers that it can
dictate their futures. This can be applied to all the art forms represented
by the academy. One day one of my peers may grow to be the next great
game designer, and as a result, shape young boys and girls. Art is
everywhere and this became even more so apparent to me thanks to this
project. I also feel I learned my writing and research skills from my
Clayton Arts Academy teachers. The techniques that I learned are
reflected in this paper. The Arts Academy has helped me shape myself and
understand what interests me most, and this project was effective in
solidifying what I had learned about myself in the last 4 years.
