N/A
Get children interested by relating the activity to previously learned subjects. (counting objects 0-10
as well as recognizing the numbers 0-10 and animals)
Today you would be using all the hard work that you spent learning your numbers to figure
out how much you need to feed the animal that you are taking care of.
Instruction/Whole Group:
Explain the rules of the game and model the instructions
1. Pick a card up from the pile.
2. Show the card to your group and say the number
3. If group members give you a thumbs up, feed the animal
4. If group members give you a thumbs down, open the card and count the items.
5. If the group members give you a thumbs up, feed the animals, if they give you a
thumbs down, count the items together as a group
To make sure that everyone understands the rules, have each child come up and
demonstrate the how it is played with me and the rest of the class as group members. This
processes will also serve as a form of informal assessment to see the childrens level of
understanding of the directions for group assignment.
Small group
Break children up into small groups and assign them an area to work in.
Have one teacher float from group to group to ensure the children understand the
activity.
Have one teacher work with the group of kids that needs the most help

Pre-assessment
This activity is a review of
childrens lessons on the
numbers 0-10. Assessment of
the childrens work from
previous lessons is used as a
running assessment for this
activity.
The large group activity where
each child takes a turn reading
a flashcard while the remaining
children gave feedback/clues
serves as an assessment of the
Assessment of Student
Learning
Rotate from group to group
(spending enough time to see
each child in the coup complete
the task) and evaluate how each
child is well the child is carrying
out the assigned task.
Assessment of
Childrens Language
Learning
Have the children repeat the
instructions back to me in
the proper order and have
children review and reflect
on the activity later in the
day or the next day. Assess
their use of language. For
shy children, do so one on
one or in small groups.
Supporting children
with identified delays
or disabilities
For students that have special
needs, they would be place in a
group with a teacher for
additional instruction and help.
Follow up/Extension
activities
Any additional
information that would
be helpful for the
observer to know
Observer feedback on the lesson plan, including commendations and recommendations for improving aspects
of the learning activity
