Professional standard:
Standard 4- create and maintain supportive and safe learning environment.
Can teach children about cyber safety at the start of lessons by saying something
short when introducing the topic.
Twitter- good tool, to follow people in using technology in education.
Website- chatterbox series for parents, good resources in cyber safety.
You as the professional:
Model good digital citizenship
Blog- you are the professional, must model best practice.
Regular moderation of the blog.
Model appropriate student responses.
Celebrating positive student responses.
Posting with due regard to copyright
- Teach children about copyright through images, ways to teach children what
you can do and what you cant.
Using creative common standards.
Protecting your digital reputation
Code of conduct
Avoid linking to students/parents through social media and/or gaming sites.
Cannot be friends with students online
Don not post material on students, colleagues or parents.
Ensure your posts align with high ethical standards.
Establish separate personal and professional accounts.
Privacy setting are a must.
- Parents, students, principles always search you.
Get someone not in your Facebook friends group to search you.
Photos on the internet can also help you get work.
Google- set up Google alerts about your name.
Change and monitor security settings.
