Brief

The production

The content of this advert I feel is much needed within the industry, as there has not been a modern
day advert for vinyl players. The product has other competitors in the sense of how people decide to
consume music for example the iPod and they have had many successful adverts in the past, but the
vinyl player company has never realised a video advert for their product. So I feel that actually there
is a large need and gap in the market for an advert like this.
I think that actually something that makes this advert more different and exciting is that its target
audience is so large and that it is trying to bring something old and make it better and more exciting
for a large amount of people.
The plot for my advert is very simplistic yet captivating, and meaningful. It starts with a series of
videos with the main aspect being the vinyl player (with a modern upbeat piece of a music), they will
be seen in different locations for example Living room, Kitchen, Bedroom, and even the garden. We
then see someone open the vinyl player, there will be close ups of the main aspects of the vinyl player
such as the needle on record, the built in speakers, and the name on the inside of the case. Well see
the person put a record on with a close up of the needle going on to the record. Itll the zoom out and
well see a young couple dancing to an old song. Itll then say under neither Merge the old with the
new.

StoryBoards

The living room shot.

The main shot will be a midshot, as I feel that this best
shows the product but you can
see enough of the surroundings
to display the lifestyles. I
wanted to get a range of
different shots within my
storyboard, to allow for more
creativity.
Within this scene the vinyl
player will pull the most focus,
but we will see others behind
to show other around it
continuing with their lives.

The Kitchen shot.

Within this scene we see one of the actors opening

up the Crossley player.
This is a close up/ mid shot, as our main focus
within this is the actor opening the Crossley player,
but at the same time you can see the surroundings
around it.

We see an over the shoulder shot or the actor

putting the vinyl on the vinyl player.
This shows the audience how the product
works and how they should use it.
Modern music still playing.

We see the pin being put on to the record by

the actor this is a close up to draw attention
from the audience and what is happening
The modern music will fade out and itll turn to
the music being played on the vinyl player.

We then go to a long/mid shot, of a younger couple

dancing. This will then go to a black screen, saying
crosley, itll continue to have the music from the
crosely player over it, until it overly fades out.

Why have chosen them?

Both have been in my productions before and I know what they are like, and how well they
actually perform within adverts before.

What personnel requirements is needed?

The personnel requirements are about what jobs and who is needed to create
the production. As well as other aspects such as what is needed on location e.g.
a toilet. This table below just shows what is needed for the production. I only
have a limited people within the production, overall there is two people. This is
meaning that I shall be covering various jobs through.

Risk Assessment

Scene

Risk

Prevention

Living room

There is not really any risk

within this room, the only thing
that may become of risk to
other around the production is
wires that maybe attacked to
the equipment.

Kitchen

There is a large amount of risks

within this area, as this is a
working kitchen with items
such as knifes and gas.

Garden

The garden has decking, as well

as it is due to rain around the
time of filming this can cause a
slippery surface and the actor
need to be careful of not falling
of the decking.

Bedroom

There is not real risk in this

location. The only risk could be
when bringing the equipment
upstairs to film, I could possibly
trip or injuring myself carrying
too much equipment

To prevent any accidents

from happening to actors
and crew members I shall
stick down wires to try and
make them as flat to the
ground as possible. I will
also put a sign to show to
those going near to be
cautious.
I will make sure that
actually the actors dont go
near or touch any of the
different possibly
dangerous things.
I will need to time filming
so that it hasnt rained in
24hours so the decking has
the time to dry and make
sure the actors are cautious
of where they are walking,
maybe put up a bright
safety line.
Make sure that I only carry
one piece of equipment at
a time and make sure that I
take my time going up the
stairs.

The actors will be dancing

alongside each other, so they
need to be careful that they
dont hurt each other, or that
they dont slip on the floor as it
is shinny.

I would make sure that the

actors are wearing good
and gripping shoes, and
that they dont dance too
vigorously.

Props
The only props needed for this production is the vinyl player, and a record. Both of which are owned by
myself, so there is no need to buy or try and require them.
The props are an essential part of the production, and the main prop, the vinyl player, is what I will be
advising to the audience who shall be watching. I do have limited props but ultimately I am trying to put
main focus on to the main prop. I think that actually my location has a huge impact on what is going to
happen and how the audience perceive the audience. So the location itself fills the advert.

Contingency Plan
The contingency plan is there to ensure if anything goes wrong then there is time to try and make it
better, or if someone was too ill to come and shot then we would have another today to film what is
needed.
Within my preparation I have allowed for three days of filming which I personally feel is enough even
if there is mistakes. But if one of the cast members is unwell during the week I have allowed for a
second week of filming in case. The majority of days happen to be half days as well so this helps to
know of other dates we can film if we dont manage to get the production filmed on those days.
The only real contingency plan we would need would be for the actors and the house as there is
limited amount of filming outside, but if we do need do come across an issue where I does rain we
have six days in order to film.
If there is something wrong with the chosen locations then we would be forced to use back up
houses. There are two different house that are at my disposal within the filming period, which I will
use if the house I had intended isnt able to allow me to film.

Post production
Within the pre-production, I will need to go through the multiple of different shots I would have shot
and tried to mash them together to make the best production that displays my product clearly and
well. In post-production I shall size the screens to make sure they are all the right size. Then I shall add
in the music and try and make sure that the images cut to the beat to ensure that the production is
easier for the audience to in take the advert and make it flow.

CONSENT

REASON
I made sure for
copyright reasons
that I have asked
for permission
from the record
company. This
piece of music has
a chilled vibe, as
well as a beat that
would be easy to
cut to the beat.
I had made sure
for legal reasons
that I asked
permission from
the record
company. This
music is chilled,
but also has this
nostalgic as this
song isnt as new
as the other.

Ethical or legal issues

Legal issue definitely come into this category due to the fact that if there is any issue within the
advert that cause controversy that would need to be improved.
I think one of the main issues throughout my advert would be copyright. Copy right, is the use of
something that is not yours, and claiming that it is your own. Within the advert I would be using
too pieces of music which I do not own, for this I would need to email the owners of this music to
ensure that I would be allowed to use the pieces of music, whilst including possible links to the
original pieces. One other thing that may be impacted is that I do not own the rights to the
Crosely player so I would need to ensure again that the company is comfortable for me to use
their product, as well as maybe giving the audience their web address, so that they can browse
their products.
Privacy issues is when you display within your production anything private or personal, this
becomes a privacy issue. I think that this could possibly become an issue within my production
due to the fact I will be using someones house, this could show aspects of their life, pictures,
their house, and lifestyles. I think I need to be cautious with where the camera is and what it
shows, making sure in every shot what is included.
Race discrimination this when you arent inclusive or are discriminative towards another
race/culture. I think I could incur possible trouble within my advert as I have only got people of
white origin acting, though they are not the main feature of the advert you manly only see hands
or bodies in the distance/ clothing so the audience could maybe interpret this to other races. The
only time youll see two people is at the end, when you see them together, dancing. During the
market research I had found that people felt as if the market was more focused towards the
western societies, and tried to show this with my choice of actors.

Discussion with Crew

I will have a discussion with the crew and the actors just before the filming and explain to them
what needed to happen during the production and all the camera angles that are needed, I will
run through the script with them and make sure that everyone understands what needs to be
achieved on each day.

To show the advert in both the morning and at peak times

when the target audience would be watching, to air it twice in
one day at these times it would cost 4150.00.
4000 of this means the advert would be aired once during the
programme Big Bang Theory, this is a programme that would
attract my target audience are their target audience is aged 1830. And the other programme airing time is between glee, in
the morning due to the socio economic group it suggests they
would have an early morning job so they may be able to see
this.
