The schools hurling team will be playing in the
Cumann na mBunscol final this Wednesday, the 25th of
May at 5.00pm in OConnor Park. They will be playing
against Rahan. This is a very important and exciting
event for the pupils in the school. All parents are
welcome to attend with their children. A large
supporting crowd will egg our tem on to hopefully
win. We wish the team and their mentors the best of
luck.

The school will be closed on Monday, the 6th of June
for the Bank Holiday. It will also be closed on
Tuesday, the 7th of June as the teachers will be
attending a course for the new language curriculum.
The school will reopen on Wednesday, the 8th of June.

Congratulations to all the pupils in Rang a 2 who received
communion for the first time yesterday. I would like to
thank all those who help bring about this important day
for the pupils and their families. I would like to thank
Inon N Chonghaile who prepared the pupils in rang a 2.
Many thanks to the pupils in the choir who sang very
sweetly and who gave the responses to the mass. Thank
you to Inon N Nuallin who prepared and conducted the
choir. Thank you to the parents of the pupils in Rang a 1
who provided the refreshments after the ceremony. It
takes a lot of work and cooperation from everybody and
everybody plays their part in making the day a success.
We hope that the pupils and their families enjoyed the
ceremony and the celebrations.

bainistochta ag iarraidh an scoil a oscailt ach ar
comhairle sbhilteacht na garda nl an dara rogha
againn ach an scoil a dhnadh.
We would like to advise parents that the school will
be closing the school on the 20th 21st and 22nd of
September due to the ploughing championship. We
are closing due to the safety advice we received
from the Garda. We wanted to keep the school
open but unfortunately we cannot ignore the advice
we were given.

There will be a meeting for parents of pupils who are
due to start school on Thursday, the 26th of May at
7.30pm. The pupils themselves will come into the
school for a visit the following day, Friday, the 27th
of May from 2.15- 2.45.

a 8.00in thuas straighre i Hugh Lynchs Bar. Is

as c go bhfuil filte roimh gach inne. Bonn

oche mhaith chun aithne a chuir ar gach
duine.
Cumann na dTuist is organising a Table Quiz
for Friday evening the 10th of June, at 8pm,
upstairs in Hugh Lynchs Bar. It was a great
social night last year and everybody had fun.
Teams consist of four and cost 20 per team.
There will be lots of prizes on the night. Come
with your friends and get to meet everyone.

The NPC Annual Conference will be taking place on the 28th of May 2016 in the National College of Ireland,
Dublin 1.
The title and theme of this year's conference will be Ready, Steady, Learn -Parents supporting their
Children's Healthy Learning. Children need to be ready to learn, therefore this conference will encompass
how parents can actively support their children's mental (emotional), physical (nutritional) and creative
health.
The Keynote Speaker will be Shane Martin, a leading Psychologist within the area of education. Shane's
presentation will be POSITIVE PARENTING: Harnessing Strengths within Children
We all want children to grow into happy adults; but sometimes we feel as though we have little real influence
over them as they grow older. New scientific research reveals that happiness can be cultivated within the
home, school and community and that parenting styles and practices have a tremendous effect on
children's emotional outlook on life. By promoting some basic positive traits and harnessing their inner
strengths we can encourage our children to have a more positive view of self, others and the world.
Parenting can be challenging but also a positive and fulfilling experience.
We need to work at being more 'positive' in our approach.
