Key Concepts
In the early 1900s, African Americans did not have the same rights as
other Americans. In 1905, a group of prominent African-American
activists led by W.E.B. Du Bois formed the Niagara Movement. The group
first met near Niagara Falls in Canada.
The Niagara Movement fought for civil rights in the U.S., worked to end
segregation, and protested unfair laws against African Americans.
