Residential structure fire forces family to escape burning home.
(Spring Hill, FL) @ 09:01 Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was notified of a house fire
with flames coming from the garage. The home is located at 258 Eastpoint Ct. The residents of
the structure were home at the time and became aware of the fire when they began to smell
smoke and discovered the fire in their garage. They quickly evacuated the structure and notified
911.
The first HCFR unit arrived on scene within 8 minutes of alarm. Initial arriving fire units
reported flames and smoke coming from the attached garage. Crews on scene quickly deployed
fire hoses to the garage in efforts to keep the fire from spreading. The fire did extend into the
living area of the structure. With a quick and coordinated attack by fire crews, further damage
and extension of the fire was kept to a minimum. No injuries were reported to civilians or fire
personnel on scene. The two occupants, a husband and wife, have been displaced due the damage
to the home. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire
Marshal.
HCFR units on scene were 3 fire engines, 2 rescues, and 2 battalion chiefs with a total of 15
personnel. Mutual aid was requested and provided by Pasco County Fire Rescue with 1 fire
engine and 1 water tanker. HCFR was also assisted by the Hernando County Sheriffs Office as
well as the Florida State Fire Marshals Office.
HCFR would like to remind all residents to have installed and to regularly check fire detectors in
their homes.
