16) DESIGN STRATEGY THAT APPROPRIATE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS IN

THE SALES
DEPARTMENT.
A data flow diagram (DFD) is a graphic presentation of external entities,
data movement, processing functions and data stores necessary to support an
information system. The transforms that are applied as data move from input to
output. DFD shows the data moves through an information system. It also known
as a data flow graph or a bubble chart. The best design strategy that appropriate
to solve the problems in the sales department is the Intermediate Data Flow
Diagram. The Intermediate Data Flow Diagram (DFD) will show the sequence of
processes done by the system together with data stores accessed by the
processes. An important characteristic of all DFD levels is that anything
represented on a previous level must also be represented on all levels that
follow. The important element in this DFD is, it can have the data store and the
number is appearing for every process involved. Each process is given a number
depicting their sequence of occurrence. This will make it easier to identify the
number of process involved. This DFD had shown the overall overview of the
system. It can involve eight or nine processes only. If there are more than nine
processes, the DFD will be failed. The Intermediate DFD consists of four external
entities. Another benefit that can get from this DFD is the duplication of data
store and external entities is allowable. The important of DFD is, it helps in
defining the boundaries of the system. It is useful for communicating current
system knowledge to the users. It also used as the part of system documentation
file and explains the logic behind the data flow within the system. So, the
intermediate DFD is the appropriate to solve the problems in the sales
department.
