ACTIVITY 1
Name of activity 1

: Whats In the Bag?

Language objectives

: Able to describe an object


Able to ask questions

Instructions
:
1) The CF needs to prepare a bag of 10 things (e.g glue, calculator, handphone, wallet etc.). The
buddies must NOT know the content of the bag.
2) Each buddy takes turn to put their hands in the bag and describe the item without bringing it out
of the bag.
3) The other buddies try to guess the item based on the description given. They may want to ask
questions to get further details about the product (e.g what is it made of, what is it used for, who
uses it etc.).
4) The CF shows the item after the buddies have guessed and removes it from the bag. Continue the
activity with another buddy.
ACTIVITY 2
Name of activity 2

: Inner Circle, Outer Circle

Language objectives

: Able to speak about the topic given


Able to ask questions

Instructions

1) Ask the lecturers to stand and divide them into two groups.
2) Ask one group of lecturers to stand in the middle of the room, forming a circle shape while facing
outwards towards the other lecturers.
3) The second group of lecturers then stand in a second, wider circle around them. This means you
have two circles with the lecturers from each circle facing each other.
Example:
Outer circle
Inner circle

Those in the outer circle will be given a topic first and they must talk about it to the
person in the
inner circle for at least 2 minutes. Those in the inner circle may ask questions to clarify or to get
further details

5) After the first 2 minutes, the people in the outer circle move clockwise so that they are now
facing another person from the inner circle and talk about the same given topic. Those in the outer
circle can change their answers each time although they cannot change the topic given.
6) Once you have made a full circle, now a different topic is given to those in the inner circle and
this time, they will have to talk about it to the person in the outer circle for at least 2 minutes.
7)

Continue the process as it was done earlier with the people from the outer circle.
