Have you ever wish for something, you may have it but you need to trade it with
another thing you demand too? Brave New World is the society that definitely different from
other place in the world. John is a person who supposed to come from Brave New World but
he didnt. His parents are civilized but he was born and grow in savage area, so his idea is
influenced by savage religion. John wants to be a real man who is pure and moral by touch
real nature of human and the world. On the other hand he also wants to fit in the social
conformity. John wants to have friend, family and lover who he can share his happiness and
sadness; both of his different compassions cause him internal-conflict.
John wants to be pure and moral by release his emotion and temperature directly. One
way that John could think about being pure and moral is to be honest with his feeling and
represent it without being controlled. Once John expresses his violence emotion to Pope; he
tries to kill him by using a combat knife. John needs to kill Pope because Pope is his mother
lover; John feels jealous on Pope and afraid for losing his mother love and attention to
another guy. There is another experience that John releases his feeling though the other
person directly, Lenina. John expresses his angry emotion to Lenina or his lover directly
because of her unappropriated practice; shes asking John for having sex with hers before
they get marry Its like that in Shakespeare too. If thou dost break her virgin before all
sanctimonious ceremonies may with full and holy rite (Huxley, 1932, p.168). For John
opinion this kind of practice is against his religion and tradition.
John wants to be part of conformity by following savage religion and tradition. John
is a son of civilize parents, but unfortunately because of his parents unfortunate accidence. It
cause him born and grow in reservation area; John idea is influenced by savage religion and
tradition. Even though Johns practice may fit in there but in fact he never be part of them
because of his mother behavior which is too civilize and unfit with savage society. John
wants to be part of savage society by sacrifice his life for savage god in the savage ceremony;

John wants to be accepted in the society. John wants to be a good husband for Lenina to fit in
society and conformity as he believes by sacrifice his comfortable to represent his true love.
Once John asks Lenina Anything you tell me. There be some sports are painful - you know.
But their delight in them sets off. Thats what I feel. I mean Id sweep the floor if you
wanted. (Huxley, 1932, p.167). Love in John opinion is to sacrifice; John believes that he
should sacrifice his comfortable for lover happiness.
John wants to be a real man by touching real danger. John wants to lean about this
world by facing it through himself. John wants to live on island to have no service for no
comfortable this is why he refuses the director But I dont want comfort. I want God, I want
poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin. (Huxley, 1932,
p.211). John believes that to live by his-own-self will make him more understanding about
this world and the reason of having life. John wants to face real nature of human by not using
soma. John believes that Soma is a poison for humanity souls so he realized Linda had been
a slave Linda had died; others should live in freedom, and the world be made
beautiful.(Huxley, 1932, p.185) For John to be a real man, he will not just protect himself
from being slave of soma and be destroyed by its but he will protect and help other people
also.
John is a character in Brave New World literature who is definitely different from
other characters else. He has abstract but interesting idea; he wants to be real man who is pure
and moral by touch real danger of human nature, release his emotion directly without be
controlled. While John wants to be pure and moral, he also wants to be part of social
conformity. On the other hand John ideas about forming moral and pure are acting on an
opposite side with being part of society. There is most of the time that his disorder demands
have cause internal-conflicts for him to choose between being a real man who is pure and
moral or being part of society with someone he love.
