Character

Character is one of the attributes or features that makes up and distinguish an

individual. A feature used to separate distinguishable things into categories also.
Character is the makeup and distinct attributes of an individual. It includes qualities
in a group, a person or a nation. It includes your personality, nature, disposition,
temperament, temper, mentality, constitution, mold, and cast.
For us Christians, it is of utmost importance we are like Christ in our character.
Therefore, in nature and attitude Gods expectation of us is to live Christ on the
surface of the earth.
In the holy book, God made adequate preparation for how we will live His life in the
book of Galatians. This part of the scriptures is often called the fruit of the Holy
Spirit but I will call it the fruit of character. These include love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. For you
to have sound character, you must grow these fruits. We must understand we
cannot get to that point overnight. We are often a work in progress so our
behavioural pattern changes as we submit ourselves to the studentship and
tutelage of the bible and Holy Spirit. Somebody said, character is power it makes
friends, draws patronage and support and open the way to wealth, honour and
happiness.
Many desire the gift of the spirit forgetting you live and interact by the fruit of the
spirit. Somebody said, the best index to a persons character is how he treats
people who cant do him any good, and how he treats people who cant fight back.
Nearly all men can fight adversity, but if you want to test a mans character give
him power.
Your character is the totality of your personality. It is often built right from when you
are a baby. You are taken through different ethical and moral codes from
kindergarten. This in totality makes you who you are. Also environmental influences
are key factors in the building of a good character.
In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln said, Character is like a tree and reputation is like a
shadow. The shadow is what we think of it. The tree is the real thing. Character is
destiny and character is power. May you be a man of good character. Amen
