After viewing the film, Ever After, directed by Andy Tennant, answer one of the following
questions. Your answer should be a maximum of 1000 words (or multimodal equivalent).
1. In an essay, discuss how your understanding of the film Ever After has
been enhanced by the Brothers Grimms fairytale Cinderella.
2. Tennant uses intertextual references throughout the text, Ever After, by
referring to the fairytale Cinderella, the artwork Mona Lisa, Thomas
Moores Utopia, and Leonardo da Vinci and the Brothers Grimm as
characters. In an essay, discuss how your understanding of the ideas in
Ever After is enhanced by these intertextual references.
3. Create your own short story that develops one of the themes in Ever
After. It may be fictional or based on your experiences. In an
accompanying writers statement, explain how the text you have
created has been influenced by your knowledge of Ever After. Themes
that could be explored include:
a. Love
b. Rags to riches
c. Family
d. Good overcomes evil
e. Utopian society
f. Social inequality
4. Choose a minor character from Ever After and create a short
story/poem/comic/podcast in which they are the main character. In an
accompanying writers statement explain how the elements of your
story (eg. Plot, characters and/or language features) have been
influenced by your knowledge of Ever After.
