It is an honor and pleasure to recommend Sherene Haidar to you. Ive known Sherene ever since
she was an inquisitive freshman in my biology class. She was always well-prepared and
consistently asked thoughtful and insightful questions. Her contributions during class
discussions demonstrated her excellent preparation each and everyday.
Because of her keen interest in the out-of-doors and her desire to tread lightly on our planet,
Sherene challenged herself this year by enrolling in my Advanced Placement Environmental
Science (APES). As a result, I have had the opportunity to work with her both in class and
during fieldwork held outside of the classroom. Sherene was an important part of this years
community watershed project sponsored by the Friends of the Rouge. Her knowledge of rivers
and river systems enabled her to do a very thorough physical survey of our water quality
monitoring site. To accomplish this she had to work with a seasoned adult volunteer and
coordinate the younger members of her team and keep them on task.
Sherene is keenly interested in all things science and has an uncanny ability to extract the
essential ideas from a large theme we are studying and make careful, well reasoned connections
to other classes. She often shares with me how she has applied what she has learned in APES to
her other high school coursework. Sherene has even brought interesting botanical finds to
class to further investigate and share with her peers.
She is also an excellent team worker. Sherene works well both independently and in a group
during laboratory investigations. Sherene is always willing to help others. If one of the
individuals in her lab group is experiencing difficulty in understanding something, Sherene is
happy to help explain what the student doesnt understand or to get help.
Sherene has a great personality and is well liked by her peers. She is responsible and appropriate
in all her interactions with both adults and with young people her own age. Sherene is someone I
am able to point to as a role model in class because she always conducts herself with poise and
appropriateness. If you ask Sherene what her other teachers say about her - they would all
comment about endahow creative and pleasant she is.
Each and every day she leads quietly within our school by being a person of high moral standing.
Sherenes impeccable character and integrity allow her to consistently make positive choices for
her life. Given her abilities, motivation, and personality I strongly believe that Sherene will be
a success in whatever future endeavors or profession she chooses to pursue. Should you require
