INPUT NETWORK
Transmission Line + /4 inverter
11 = 0.6350
= 11 = 0.63 50
1 +
= 1.027 1.64
1
Using the Smith Chart, we obtained two lengths and two possible impedances:
= 0.181
= 0.432
= 0.23
= 4.4
= 0 = 0.23 50 = 11.5
= 0 = 4.4 50 = 220
= = 11.5 50 = 23.97
= = 220 50 = 104.88
The first solution (A) has less transmission line length, but the bandwidth will be bigger, so
we choose this solution.
OUTPUT NETWORK
Transmission Line + Short Circuited Stub
22 = 0.419
= 22 = 0.41 9
1 +
= 1.027 1.64
1
Using the Smith Chart, we obtained two lengths of the transmission lines and the stubs:
= 0.17
= 0.432
= 0.133
= 0.383
Option A is the one that in total uses the less amount of transmission line, so we will choose this
one for the output network.
FULL CIRCUIT
By joining the two circuits previously designed, and putting them along with the amplifier, we
can simulate the full circuit and thus obtain the gain of the amplifier.
