COURSEGOALS:
Wilson High School Physical Education Students will participate ina varietyof individualandteam activities.This
curriculum willprovidestudentswiththeopportunitytopracticeanddeveloptheskillsnecessarytomaintainahealthy
lifestyle. The emphasis will be on physical, social, and mental development throughtheparticipation inavarietyof
sportsandlifetimeactivities,writtenassignments,andpromotingahealthylifestylethroughphysicalfitness.
GRADING:
Thegradeearnedinthiscoursewillbebasedonasystemthatrequiresparticipationandwrittenwork.
Participation=70%
WrittenWork=30%

EXPECTATIONSOFSTUDENTS:
A. Abasicrequirementforallstudentswillbetoparticipate/completetheirphysicalfitness
testingthroughoutthecourse.Testingwillbedonethroughoutthiscourseandstudents
willrecordtheirresultsintheirworkbook.
B. AllstudentsareexpectedtodressdowndailyinappropriatePEattire.Theconsequences
fornotdressingdownareasfollows:
a. Lossofdailydressdown/participationpoints
b. Chronicfailuretodressdownwillresultinparent/teacherconferenceor
administrativereferral.
c. Iftheissuepersistsafterotherinterventions,thestudentwillriskfailingthe
classduetotheinabilitytomeetclassrequirements.
C. SickorInjuredstudentswillbeaskedtohavetheirappropriatePEattireanwillbegiven
theopportunitytoparticipateinmodifiedactivityappropriatefortheircondition.
a. Ifanillnessorinjurypersistsformorethan3days,andexcusefroma
physicianisrequired.Insuchcase,thestudentwillbegivenwrittenworkto
completewhileoutwithillnessorinjury.

Studentsareresponsibleforclearingallabsencesthroughtheattendanceoffice
withanoteorphonecallfromaparentsorguardian.
Studentswillbegiventheopportunitytomakeupcreditforexcusedabsences

Only4excusedabsencesperquarterwillbeallowedtobemadeup,unless
approvedbytheinstructoronacasebycasebasis.
Prolongedinjuriesorillnessesmayrequireyoutodroptheclassandreschedule
totakeitatanothertime.

CONSEQUENCES:
Ifastudentchoosestonotmeetanyoftheexpectationsorgeneralrulesaddressedearlier,the

3. Administrativereferral(lossofdailypoints)
