DGS-Servicetool

(version 1.1)

The program DGS-Servicetool is the replacement of the programs CompanyData and


DGKeyProg and contains the following functions:
-

Editing of company data


Check and update dongles (LPT/USB)
Check and update of FlexLM security
Client installation of FlexLM security

Editing of company data


On the tabsheet Company data you can enter the company data. This data is available in the
Delft GeoSystems software and is uses for the output to reports. It is also possible to add a
company logo.

Check and update dongles (LPT/USB)


After a dongle (LPT/USB) is connected to the computer, the actual license information is showed
on the tabsheet dongle. You can use this option to check the license information of dongles.
The field Client ID and Dongle Nr. contains the registration data of the connected dongle.
Adjustment of the license information of the dongle can be done in two ways:

Update through the internet


Update with a file

Update through the Internet


By selecting the tabsheet Web the
program starts searching the internet
for new license information for the
connected dongle. As soon as the
license information is available the
information is displayed. When a
message appears No matching file
found there could be two possible
causes:
- A dongle is connected of
which the registration data
Client ID and Dongle Nr.
doesnt correspond to the
data of the internet (see
tabsheet Web);
- There is no new license file
available.
New available modules are displayed
with a yellow background, these will
be added to the dongle. Discontinued
modules are displayed as strike out
and will be removed from the dongle.
By using the button update dongle
the data is saved in the connected
dongle and closed with the message
Dongle is programmed and verified.
Now the dongle is ready for use.
NB When you dont have access to the internet on request you can receive the license update
information by mail or by e-mail as an attachment.
Update with file
By selecting the tabsheet file you can browse to the location of a license file. You may have
received this file by mail or by e-mail as an attachment. When a message appears No matching
file found, there are three possible causes:
-

A dongle is connected of which the registration data Client ID and Dongle Nr. Doesnt
correspond to the data of the license file.
The license file does not reside in the selected directory;
The license file is corrupt.

New available modules are displayed with a yellow background, these will be added to the
dongle. Discontinued modules are displayed as strike out and will be removed from the dongle.
By using the button update dongle the data is saved in the connected dongle and closed with
the message Dongle is programmed and verified. Now the dongle is ready for use.

Check and update of FlexLM security


By selecting the tabsheet FlexLM the actual license information is displayed, added with server
data such as MAC address and server name. Further more the location of the current FlexLM file
is displayed.
Before you can adjust the license information for FlexLM there must be a new FlexLM file
available. This file can be downloaded from the internet.
Update through the internet
By selecting the tabsheet Web the
program starts searching the internet for
the known server data for new license
information. As soon as the license data
are found they are displayed.
New available modules are displayed
with a yellow background, these will be
added to the dongle. Discontinued
modules are displayed as strike out and
will be removed from the dongle.
By using the button Save as the file will
be saved.
NB When you dont have access to the
internet on request you can receive the
license update information by mail or by
e-mail as an attachment.
The replacement of the current file can
usually only be done by the system
administrator.
The update will be activated by stopping
the FlexLM servers and starting it again
(see for further information the
documentation of FlexLM).

Client installation of the FlexLM security


After the FlexLM security is installed on the server you have to adjust on the client computers the
location of the FlexLM file.
Select the tabsheet FlexLM and then
the tabsheet Client Setup.
Fill in at Current FlexLM file the
complete path of the FlexLM file. Or
browse with the button to the FlexLM
file.
This path can be a so called UNC path
starting with \\ followed by the server
name, the shared directory and the
name of the FlexLM file.
Example:
\\dg-sg27\FlexLM\09795-001.dat
It also can be a mapped network drive
starting with the drive letter followed
by the shared directory and the name
of the FlexLM file.
Example:
M:\FlexLM\09795-001.dat
By clicking the button Update
registry the path will be saved in the
registry of the client computer.
