100 Hours Inform ation Technology Training

1.

R egistration for th e Training

This course should be undergone by a student who has taken admission to Intermediate Professional Competence Course
(IIPCC). A student is issued registration letter for 100 Hours ITT automatically after registering for IIPCC. Before registering for
articled training, a student has to complete ITT with an accredited Branch.
Students, who have registered for the erstwhile Intermediate Course and completed their articled training and then converted
to IIPCC, shall produce ITT completion certificate at the time of registration for Final Course.
Students, who have registered for erstwhile Intermediate Course and then appeared in Professional Education (Examination
II) and then converted to IIPCC, shall produce ITT completion certificate at the time of registration for articled training.
Compulsory Computer Training (CCT) completed earlier is valid in IIPCC also.
Students who have initially registered for the Professional Education (Course II) and then switched over / switching over to
IIPCC, shall be required to produce ITT completion certificate at the time of joining for articled training or if the articled training
continuing/completed, they shall have to produce ITT completion certificate at the time of registration for Final Course. CCT
completed earlier is valid in IIPCC also.
Students who have initially registered for the Professional Education (Course II) and then switched over to Professional
Competence Course (PCC) and then to IIPCC, shall be required to produce ITT completion certificate at the time of rejoining
for balance period of articled training or if the articled training continuing, they shall have to be required to produce ITT
completion certificate at the time of registration for Final Course. CCT completed earlier is valid in IIPCC also.
Existing students, who have registered initially for PCC and then switched over to IIPCC, shall produce ITT completion
certificate at the time of rejoining for balance period of articled training or if the articled training continuing, they shall have to ,
produce ITT completion certificate at the time of registration for Final Course.
A student can join any of the accredited Regional Office/Branch IT Centre for undergoing this training by submitting ITT
registration form. The details of accredited Regional Office/Branch IT Centres are hosted on the website at

2.

Fees payable to the accredited Bran ch ITT Centre for undergoin g the IT Training

The fee payable to the Branch for ITT is Rs. 4,000 or as specified by ICAI from time to time.
The course fee is inclusive of all costs such as the cost of registration for the course, library fee, computer and Internet usage
charges and cost of conducting training, module tests, project and final online examination. It also includes the cost for
evaluation, marking, preparing results for issuance of com pletion certificate and submitting the list of eligible candidates to the
IT Directorate, ICAI, Noida.
Disabled students are exempted from undergoing 100 Hours ITT with accredited Branches. They have to self-study the course
materials for at least three months and qualify two specially designed test papers supplied on request by the concerned
Regional Office.
3.

Issu ance of Id en tity card

On registration for the 100 Hours ITT, the Branch shall issue an identity card to the student indicating the name of the student, date
of registration, the batch no., batch start date and the validity period. Any student who fails to complete his training within
the validity period of four months, would be required to re-register for the training by paying a fee of Rs. 250 to the concerned
Branch IT Centre.

Training Duratio n

The fresh batches shall start preferably in the first week of each month. Students are required to undergo 100 Hours ITT with
the accredited branch. The Branches can follow a teaching module of 3 -5 hours per day, covering 100 hours in maximum 40
days including Sundays. The IT Directorate can change this training plan. A student should not appear for the final online

examination before he/she completes the minimum training period prescribed in the training programme.
5.

Course S tructure and Training Methodology

The syllabus designed by the IT Directorate for 100 hours of Information Technology Training shall be imparted as per the specified
training hours stated in Para 7. The faculty members are required to adhere to this schedule. The course should be supported by
intensive practical exercises so that the concepts are clearly understood by the students.
There m ay be additional seminars/lecture s up to m axim um of 5 hours to keep the stude nts inform e d about the latest
developm ents in the area of Inform atio n Technolo gy w hich are of relevance for accou nting professio n. W hile organizing
these sem inars, it should be consid ered that students are undergoing practical trainin g; hence they are available only on
holiday s for attendin g these additiona l sem inars/lectures. Stude nts m ay be m otivated to organize these lectures. The IT
Directorate in collab oration with the Regional Councils / Branches may also organize these lectures.
6.

Stud y M aterial

The IT Directorate and Board of Studies has brought out study material in the form of printed study modules I & II and 1 CD which
is used by all accredited ITT centers of ICAI during the training. The course material is made available to the students at the
time of registration with the decentralise office. The printed modules include details discussion on all the topics included in the
syllabus. However, the 1 CD cover PowerPoint Presentation and Lab practice Manual Edition-1 for reference purpose.
Students are advised to study the appropriate course modules in details before the relevant classes are conducted by the
accredited branch. In addition the Institute announces time to time any changes in such guidelines through Students Journal
The Chartered Accountant Student. Such changes are also hosted on the Institutes website www.icai.org.
The Chairmen of the accredited Regional offices/branches of the ICAI are also communicated about any change in the
guidelines. W hile undergoing 100 hours ITT, a student should remain in regular touch with the centre head of the accredited
regional offices/branch of the ICAI.

B atch size and Attend ance


The batch size must be restricted to 45 students in any given condition.
After the commencement of the batch, new enrolment or shifting of the batch by the student must not be allowed.
In case of break in training on medical grounds, the student should seek prior written permission from the Chairman /

Centre- In-charge of the branch.

Minimum 90 % attendance (i.e. 90 hrs of ITT) of each student in a batch must be ensured. In case, a student fails to
attend 90% of the classes due to unavoidable reasons, he/she may be asked to complete balance hours of IT
Training in the next available batch.
Note : The attendance would be recorded through Biometric system.
9.

Dress Code

The branches should ensure that students come in proper formal dress and uphold the grace of the Profession. They should
not be permitted to enter the classroom in Jeans and short T-shirts. The necessary instructions may be put up on the notice
board and also communicated to the students at time of the registration for these courses. These Instructions are to be
adhered strictly.
10. Refreshm ent
R efreshm ent provide d by the branch to its faculty/ staff m em bers only m ay include tea/coffee through vendor/ vending
m achine.
11. M odu le tests
Each student is required to pass tw o module tests. These tests are to be conducte d by Branch es in consultation with the
IT Directorate of the ICAI. The first m odule test may be conducte d after com pleting trainin g of topics 1-5 and second
m odule test m ay be conducted after completing topics 6-11 stated in Para 7 above. The evalu ation and m oderation of
test papers is to be carried out by the Branch IT Centre. These tests carry 20% weightage.
Each module test shall be of 50 m arks. The m odule test m ay com pris e of objectiv e type questions as w ell as short
questions. The duration of the m odule test will be one hour. Evaluation of the m odule test is to be done by the centre
faculty. A stude nt is require d to pass both m odules tests by securin g at least 50% m arks in individu al test. In case a
student fails to do so, one re-appearance for each test m ay be allowe d free of cost. For any additional reappe arance,
the stude nt is require d to pay a nom inal fee of Rs. 150/- per test.
12. Project
Each stude nt is require d to submit a m ulti-disciplinary project of 100 m arks. These tests carry 20% weightage. The
students should endeav or to use m ost of the software/tech niques learnt during their training while developing this
project based on som e real-life application. The m ajor guideline s for preparation of a project are as follows:
All the projects should be application/case study based only.
The project reports should be of m axim um 20-25 pages and need to be submitted in hard as well as soft copy form at.
A presentation of the project m ust be conducted along with viva-voce. The weight-age m ay be given as
70% to the project report and 30% to the prese ntation/viva.
13. Eligib ility to app ear for O nline Exam ination
A stude nt become s eligible to appear for online exam ination only if he/she fulfills the followin g conditio ns:

90% attendance . If a student has put in 60% attenda nce in one session (batch) but could not m ake 90%
attenda nce, he would be permitte d to attend the misse d classe s in the next batch upon reques t and availability.
How ever, if the attendanc e in one session is below 60% then the stude nt shall have to underg o the ITT C ourse
with a fresh (new ) registration by paying the fee of Rs. 4,000/- again.

Passed both the m odule tests by securing atleast 50% m arks in each m odule.

Subm itted the project as per guidelines.

14. Final Onlin e E xam in ation


The final online examination w ould com prise of 200 objective type question s of 1.5 m arks each totalin g 300 m arks. The
w eight-age of final online examination is 60%. The duration of the sam e is 3 hours.
The final online examination is to be conducted by the accredited branches on any Sund ay of the m onth in coordination with
IT Directorate. In case, at a particular centre the num ber of stude nts who have to appear for the online examination

is m ore than the num ber of comp uters available, then the examination can be conducted in tw o sessions.
If due to certain unavoidable circum stances, an accredite d branch requires to conduct the final online exam ination on a
day other than Sund ay, a request may be sent to the IT Directorate, ICAI, NOIDA . Such examinations may be conducted
only after obtaining the form al permissio n. The IT Directorate, ICAI, NOID A shall notify any such unscheduled
examination to all concerne d regiona l offices.
If wrong questions are set and identified during conduction of the online exam ination or M odu le test, full credit (m arks)
m ay be given to the stude nts for the wrong question/s.
The IT D irectorate, IC AI, N O ID A shall provide C D containing question bank from tim e to tim e, which shall be used for
online examination. The accredite d branch m ay load this questio n bank on their search engin e and generate questions
randomly for each of the candidate s appearing for the examination. The total num ber of questio ns generated for each
topic must be in accordance to the total num bers of hours of trainin g allocated to that topic. The question bank m ay be
updated from tim e to tim e. They must also ensure that their centre has the facility to take care of pow er failure. A
student m ust not be allowe d to exceed the allotted tim e. As soon as the allotted tim e is over, the software should stop the
student from entering further data. Once the student com mences the examination, he/she has to complete the paper without any
break.
The evaluation is to be done on-line.
15. Criteria for qualifyin g the training
A student is require d to obtain 60% in aggreg ate taking into account m odule tests, project and final exam ination. In case
a stude nt fails to secure 60% or m ore in aggregate, he /she m ay be allowe d to reappe ar for online exam for m axim um tw o
m ore attem pts. N o fee shall be charged by the accredited branches for such reappe arance. How ever, if a student fails to
secure 60% m arks even after three attem pts, he/she m ay have to pay a nominal fee not exceedin g Rs. 300/- to
the accredite d branch for every additiona l attem pt.
16. Unfair M ean s
If any stude nt is found using unfair m ean s during module test or online examinatio n or causes indisciplin e in the class,
disciplin ary action as per ICAI guidelines will be taken against such stude nt.
17. Differently abled stud ents
The Institute has exem pted differently abled students from undergoing 100 hours ITT with the accre dited regional
offices/branches of the ICAI. An alternative schem e has been designe d as described below.
Differently abled students are required to inform the Board of Studies and IT Directorate about their option for exemption form
undergoing 100 hours ITT, along with the necessary documents, at the appropriate decentralized office. Such students are not
required to pay any registration fee for the purpose of 100 hours ITT. The appropriate decentralized office shall provide them a
set of course material on registration. Since the minimum duration of the course is twenty days, a differently abled student is
required to self-study such course material for a minimum period of 20 days. Therefore, he can send a request to the
decentralized office for specially designed two test papers and also inform about his schedule for submission of these test
papers.
The answer sheets test papers are to be submitted at the appropriate decentralized Office. The student shall be issued
certificate for A students Information Technology Training Course on qualifying test papers.

The branch IT Centre shall consolidate the exam ination results giving appropriate weightage to Module tests (Para -11),
Project Report (Para - 12) and Final on-line exam ination (Para - 14 ) as per Table given below :

The Branches should m aintain relevant records regarding Attendance , O n-line tests, Module tests, Projects,
Question papers, Answ er papers, M arks secured, etc. properly. Such reports should be kept for a minim u m period
of tw o years in hard copy. Soft copy m ay be retaine d for atleast 5 years.
