A: A typical day I'm working for 10-24 hours, I first make my rounds checking on all
patients and what is scheduled for them to do that day. A day without surgery is rare, but after
I finish my rounds there is no designated schedule for me I do as needed each day as every
day is different from the one before.
7. Q: Which skill do you think is the most important to perform for this job?
A: The most important skill is to have patiences due to dealing with critical conditions,
children who are too young to speak about what is hurting them, and eagerly worried parents.
8. Q: What do you do to keep your skills current?
A: Every day I am learning new skills and practicing old ones. With a job that requires such
focus and action you use every skill you learned plus a few picked up along the way.
9. Q: If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?
A: When hiring for an important job such as this one I would look for a head strong,
determined person. People do not understand that working with children are so much harder
than adults and want to join the field or an easier higher paying job.
10. Q: What one thing would you do differently in regards to your career?
A: There aren't really any changes I would make within my job; I feel ever aspect is here for a
reason.
11. Q: What is your advice for someone who is interested in this field?
A: Stay positive and focused if you plan to join this career and yes the work load is a lot but
saving a life is a better outcome than anything.
