Town America Celebrates the

Fireworks will be held on Sunday, July 3 on the high school
field, 401 Kings Highway East, between Sylvan Lake Avenue and
Hopkins Lane. Only street parking is available.
Gates open at 7 p.m. There is no
charge for admission. Donations
will gladly be accepted at the
gates. They can also be sent to P.O.

The fireworks display will
begin at dusk, approximately 9:30

Entertainment by the Shore
Thing begins at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available at
the Lions Club tent in the end
zone. Hot dogs, pretzels and cold
drinks will be sold. Mr. Softee will
also be available.
There will be no outside vendors on the school grounds and
smoking and pets are prohibited
on all school property.

Richard A. Edwards
June 10, 2016
Richard A. Edwards, a Haddonfield resident for more than 60
years, passed away on June 10 at
the age of 89. He was the husband
of the late Patricia (nee Stone);
beloved father of Pamela Lindsay
(Bruce) of York, Maine, Sandra
Langford (Richard) of Haddon
Heights, Richard A. Edwards, Jr.,
M.D. (Katy) of Corfu, N.Y. and
Gwyneth Edwards (Baron) of San
Diego, Calif.; cherished grandfather of six; and loving great
grandfather of eight.
Mr. Edwards proudly served in
the U.S. Coast Guard during
WWII. He began his career as a
building contractor with his father at Edwards & Sons and eventually became the owner. He volunteered numerous work hours
on the Battleship of New Jersey
and was a member of the Haddonfield Ys Men for many years.
Mr. Edwards family received
friends on Saturday, June 18 at the
First Presbyterian Church of
Haddon Heights, 7th Ave. and
Green St., Haddon Heights, N.J.
08035; where his memorial service followed. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Mr. Edwards
may be made to the church at the
above address, where he had been
a longtime member or to the Battleship New Jersey, 62 Battleship
Place, Camden, N.J. 08103.

Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; and loving
grandfather of Grace and Katherine Schaffer, and Tyler (Erin),
Trevor, and Hillary Sands. He is
also survived by his sister Jane
Hamilton of Richmond, Va., and
his sisters-in-law Linda Molnar
and Minerva Rohlfing.

That's been a goal ever since I
was a freshman.
Gess said she knew repeating
as the 1,600-meter run champion
would be a tall task. She wasnt
concerned about her competitors
fast times, however.
I've been trying to focus on not
worrying about the other people,
Gess said. I wanted to focus on
the plan that I wanted to stick to.
This years race felt way different to Gess from start to finish.
The difference was apparent in
the speed of the race. As a freshman, Gess won the 1,600-meter
run at Meet of Champions with a
time of 4:45.97. That year, three
other runners also posted times
under 4:50. This year, Gess winning time was 4:50.09.
We went out pretty slow,
Gess said. Everybody was still
