itsexistencebytransformingtheearthonadaytodaybasis.Canadaisnotdoingasufficient
amounttolessentheeffectsofGlobalWarming,consequentlyoneshouldutilizepublictransit
morefrequently,goingdigitalwithdocumentsandeliminatingcertaincoalfiredpowerplants.
Withthescalefordisastrousconsequencesarisingamongtheearth,theeffortsforGlobal
Warmingshouldincreasebeforeitpermanentlychangesourclimate.

Individualscanreducetheeffectsofglobalwarmingbyutilizingpublictransit.Byan
individualswitchingfromaprivatevehicletotransitcansave4800poundsofenergyperyear.A
twocarhouseholdthatreplacesonevehiclewithalternativetransportationcancutitsannual
emissionsby10percent.Anotherstrategywouldbetoreplaceincandescentlightbulbswith
LEDbulbs.LEDbulbsuseaslittleas1/10theamountofpowerperlightemittedthantheir
incandescentcounterpartssavingenergy.Incandescentlightbulbsconsume28%moreenergy
thanLEDreleasingmoreGHGsintheatmosphere.Overall,individualsarecapableofdoinga
substantialamounttolessentheeffectsofglobalwarming.


Businessescanreducetheeffectsofglobalwarmingstartingwithcarcompaniesthat
shouldintroducemorefuelefficientcars.Electriccarssave15%oftheirtotalenergyfrom
renewableelectricity.Whenadding559hybridelectricdeliveryvehiclesoverthepastdecade,it
hassavednearly700,000litresoffuel.Businessescanalsogodigitalwithdocumentsfor
exampleusingPDFs.Energyusedtorecyclepaperincompaniescanbereducedby35%if
strategyisfollowed.Wastehascontributedto54megatonnesofcarbondioxideannually.
Consequently,businessesareabletodoasignificantamounttolessentheeffectsofglobal
warming.

TheCanadiangovernmentcanlessentheeffectsofglobalwarmingbyreducing
emissionsfromlandfills.Interestingly,27megatonnesofCO2equivalentaregeneratedannually
fromCanadianlandfillsofwhich20MTCO2emittedannually.Reducingmethanegas
emissionsfromlandthatare21timesmorepotentthancarbondioxideemissionswouldlessen
theamountofGHGsintheatmosphere.Thegovernmentcanalsoeliminatecertaincoalfired
powerplants.Albertaandits18coalfiredpowerplantsareintotalresponsiblefornearlyof
Canadaselectricitysectoremissions.Bydiscontinuingthecoalfiredpowerplantsithasreduced
GHGsfromelectricityuseintheprovinceby80%since2005.Overall,thegovernmentcandoa
considerableamounttolessentheeffectsofglobalwarming.

Inconclusion,Canadaisdoingaminimalamounttolessentheeffectsofglobalwarming
asmanyindividualsshouldutilizepublictransitmorecustomarily,businessescouldemploy

onlinedocumentsopposedtopaperandthegovernmentshouldhavemorecontroloverthe
amountoflivestockinthecountry.E

showsthatin2010Canadawasthe10thbiggestcarbonemitterworldwide.Onapercapita
basis,Canadais17thamongtheG20,CanadatrailsonlyAustraliaandtheUnitedStates.
Canadaisontracktofinishwellshortofmeetingitsemissionreductiontargetssetoutinthe
2009CopenhagenAccordbythe2020deadline.However,futureimpactsCanadacouldface
wouldincludemedianlocalsealevelcouldriseby2.9metresintheVancouverarea,abovewhat
isnowthehomesof295,000residents.IntheMontrealarea,thewaterlevelwouldgoupby2.7
metres,affecting5,000peopleinthefuture.
