How to

o make Revised/ Recovery Schedule:

1-

Detach the baseline and separate the current progress.

If the updated schedule has an assigned baseline you shall remove that baseline.

2- Delete finish constraint of the project.

project
In projects layout,, select dates label then remove date in cell of must finish by.(highlight
(highlight it then press delete)

3- Press F9 to run scheduling

scheduling Using actual dates option when scheduling progressed activities ((From
scheduling options).

4- Make global changes as following

following:
a-

Original
nal duration of completed activities. (Original should = actual)

b-

Planned start date to be equal actual date for in progress activities.

c-

Planned start date and planned finish date to be equal actual date for completed activities.

Now you can modify the remaining duration (if you are using Physical % type) of activities which are in
progress and relationships between not started activities by the way in which you can prepare a logic
sequencing of either recovery baseline or revised baseline to keep contractual end or new contract
end after getting official time extension due to variation (Change scope) respectively.
Remember during scheduling do
dontt forget to chose retained logic option from scheduling option dialog
box.
C- Original
nal duration of in progress activities. (original = actual + remaining ).
)

5- Maintain
aintain baseline then assign to current project
p ect you will get the result as shown.

The new created baseline

Notes:
1-

Iff you are using duration type fix duration & unit/time, you will find the budgeted total cost of current project
(the project which you will have after deleting assigned baseline) has been increased due to activities

usually take longest duration than scheduled. Thence you shall adjust the budgeted total cost to equal
original before prepare your revised/recovery baseline.
2-

If you are using percentage complete type duration. You shall apply global change to in progress activities
(change % complete type from duration to physical) to enable you determine the remaining duration for each
after discussion with project manager/construction manager.

3-

If you are using earned value analysis for time and cost. Do the following:
a-

b-

c-

For recovery baseline schedule (contractual end not changed) earned value of current project before
deleing the assigned baseline shall equal earned value after applying all mentioned steps to prepare
your recovery schedule. Even you have cancelled/additional items (contractually).
For revised baseline (contractual end changed due to gain time extension & scope changes), earned
value of current project shouldnt be the same as in revised due to cancelled/additional items which will
be adjusted quantity wise, activity wise and zone wise in accordance with your baseline schedule to
satisfy the new budget cost.
Regarding recovery schedule if you have a cancelled item, you will consider it during updating process
(before demand of preparing recovery baseline) been executed but earliest as possible in way by which
avoid delay of the project.
