Will the focal length of a lens for red light be more , same or less than that for
blue light ?
A convex lens of focal length 20 cm is placed coaxially with a convex mirror of
radius of curvature 20cm . The two are kept at 15cm from each other . A point
object lies 60 cm in front of convex lens . Draw a ray diagram to show the forma
tion of image by combination . Also find the nature and position of image . [ Ans
: v = +90/7cm]
The image obtained witha convex lens is erect and its length is four times the
length of the object . If the focal length of the lens is 20 cm , calculate the object
and image distances .
[ Ans : u = 15 , v = 60cm]

You are given three lenses L1,L 2 ,L 3 each of focal length 10cm. An objecty is
kept at a distance of 15 cm in front of L1 as shown in figure . The final real image
is formed at the focus of L 3 . Find the separation between L1,L 2 , and L 3 .

Figure shows an equiconvex lens of refractive
index 1.50 in contact with a liquid layer on the top
of plane mirror . A small neddle with its tip on the
principal axis is moved along the axis unitl it is
inverted and image coincides with the needle . The
distance of needle form lens is measured 45cm .
The liquid is removed and experiment is repeated .
The new distance is measured to be 30 cm . What
is the refractive index of liquid .

Determine the effective focal length of a lens if they are placed distance d
apart.Does the answer depend on which side parallel beam of light is incident .
Is the notion of effective focal length of this system useful ?

The distance between an object and screen is D. A convex lens of focal length f
is placed between the object and the screen .
