Choir Contract
Welcome back! I hope you had a great summer. The following is . This will insure a very
successful year in choir and will also help each student perform and learn to the best of
their ability.

REQUIRED DAILY MATERIALS

Assigned music in class daily (even when physically unable to sing)


Sharpened pencil
Separate music folder.

YOUR CHOIR/MUSIC TEXT


Your choir's choral music is your classroom text. All music is the property of
the school. Music may be taken home to rehearse but must be brought back
to school for the next choir class.

MUSIC THEORY
In addition to learning singing techniques and choral music we will be learning
about music theory. We will be studying the elements of music such as pitch,
rhythm, harmony and form. This will allow us to study our choral music even
deeper and become better musicians.

GRADING POLICY
Students are evaluated by means of a point system based on the following
points:

Daily rehearsal participation/behavior/effort/attendance 25%

Daily participation is worth

25 pts
No Music folder or pencil - 5pts
Talking -5 pts
Off Task -5 pts
Inappropriate Behavior -10 pts

Concerts 50%
All concerts are mandatory and will count as a test grade. If a student is
unable to attend a scheduled performance, a signed note from home is to be
brought in at least a week before the scheduled date. If the student becomes
ill the same night as the performance a note may be brought in the next day
the student is in school. If any student misses a performance for any reason
and does not present a note they will receive a Zero (0) for that test grade.
No Exceptions!

Singing and written quizzes 25%


Students will be required to demonstrate their understanding of material
taught during class through singing and written quizzes. Students will be
notified in advance as to when the quiz will be. There will be at least 2 quizzes
each term.

Concert Dress
Winter and Spring Concert: Students should wear formal
clothing in any colors. That includes dresses, skirts, dress shirts and pants
for the girls and pants and shirt (tie is optional) for the boys. All skirts
should be below the knee in length. Please no jeans, sneakers, and Tshirts.
All Choral Night Concert: The dress code for this concert is
black pants or skirt and white top. All skirts should be below the knee in
length. Please no jeans, sneakers, and T-shirts.
