Lack of Fluency and Poor Reading Comprehension of Pupils


What were the statement of the problem?
1.What is the efficacy of Repeated Reading in improving fluency of frustration
readers in terms of:
1.1accuracy,
1.21.2 speed, and
1.3Prosody
2. What is the efficacy of Repeated Reading in improving reading comprehension of
frustration readers.
3. What is the students perception towards Repeated Reading as a reading
intervention strategy.
What were the different steps undertaken by the researcher?
1. The researcher decided too take the 13 students as subjects for a special
reading intervention.
2. She decided to consider the Repeated Reading RR) strategy as the possible
solution.
3. Intervention /instructional method
4. Provide corrective feedback to the students
5. Record on the Repeated Reading Chart the number of words.
What were the results?
1. After comparing the data on hand, the researcher find out:
There was a noticeable improvement in the subject reading fluency and
reading comprehesion after exposing them to the reading intervention using
the RR.
2. In the area of accuracy All students noted to have increase their
performance.
What were the recommendations? Did they reflect opportunities for the second
cycle of the Action Research.
Indeed practice makes perfect, RR should be done on a regular basis
throughout the year and should be teacher led to yield better results.

1. Revised the SBM Assessment Tool
2. Review the SIP
3. Organized the school structure and define roles and
functions
4. Implement leadership network facilities
5. Develop a long range training program
What were the results?
The present status of the school is still in Level 1

What were the recommendations? Did they reflect opportunities


for the second cycle of the Action Research.

1. Internal and external stakeholders must be fully


knowledgeable of the programs, trusts and innovations
implemented by DepEd.
