What Is Biotechnology?
 Biotechnology - Biotechnology refers to the use of
microorganisms such as bacteria or biological
substances such as enzymes, to perform industrial

or manufacturing processes.


When did Biotechnology become

useful?
 Biotechnology may seem like a new concept but in reality
people have been using biotechnology for thousands of
years. The first use of biotechnology can be found in
the Middle East around 2000B.C.E. with the
manufacturing of cheese. Also the ancient Sumerians
began brewing beer around the same time cheese was
being developed in the Middle East.


How Has Biotechnology Changed Over The Past
4000 Years?
 When humans first began to use biotechnology in the Middle

East they did so in order to have food that they could travel

with. As time has gone on humans have used biotechnology

to provide for their needs and desires. In the 21st century

animals, and much more.
