SUBJECT: Army Birthday 2010 Message
1, The second Continental Congress established the United States Army on
June 14, 1775. From this humble origin, America’s senior military service
‘emerged as the greatest land fighting force in history, Despite more than eight
years of protracted conflict, our Army remains more effective now than at any
time in the past 40 years.
2. As we proudly celebrate our 235th birthday, our most valuable resource
remains Soldiers, Army Families and Civilian employees. Your selfiess service,
courage and personal sacrifice represent the very best of the United States,
From the Revolutionary War to the current operations taking place around the
world, our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core
values and beliefs.
3. As we honor our Army's rich history and the legacy of the men and women
who wore our nation’s uniform in generations past, remember that you have the
undying gratitude of a grateful Nation. | am extremely proud of you and of our
great Army. Thank you for your service, sacrifices, and steadfast devotion to
duty. You are what makes America’s Army “The Strength of the Nation.”
