Drug-Caused Xerostomia

Xerostomia is a condition of dry mouth, which may be due to


irradiation, Sjgren syndrome or a wide variety of medications.
These are the followings:

1. Anticholinergics; inhibit the activity of acetylcholine.


2. Antidepressant; relieve depression.
3. Antihistamines; reduce the effects of histamine.
4. Antihypertensives; reduce high blood pressure.
5. Antihypoglycemics; increase blood sugar.
6. Antiparkinsonians; treat Parkinsonism.
7. Beta-Blockers; block the action of adrenaline.
8. Diuretics; promote urine flow.
9. NSAIDs; Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs.
