Replacing the Firebox Door Switch

MaxFire (S/N > 5000)

Tools needed to replace the firebox door switch:


• Philips screw driver
• Flat tip screw driver
• 5/16” socket wrench

Replacing the fire box door switch


• Unplug the stove.
• Remove left side screw and panel.
• Open the fire box door to relieve pressure on the switch from the
actuating rod. See Figure 1.
• The door switch is located in left side of the stove above the burn drive
motor. See Figure 2.
• Disconnect the wires from the switch.
• Remove the two mounting screws and pull out the switch. See Figure 3.
• Remove the switch from the bracket.
• Screw the new switch to the bracket.
• Attach the wires you removed from the old switch to the new switch.
• Put the switch back in the stove.
• Snug the bolts and reconnect the wires.
• Push the rod in to hear the switch click. Adjust if necessary. See Figure 3.
• Tighten the mounting screws on the switch if it operates correctly.
• Close the fire box door.
• Test the switch by opening the door. The switch should click just as the
handle reaches the first detent. ADJUST IF NECESSARY. See Figure 3.
• Check for proper operation.
• Put the left side panel and screw back on.
