Introduction

Computer Networks

Computer Networks is a scientific journal of computer and telecommunications networking

published by Elsevier. Computer Networks is an international, archival journal providing a
publication vehicle for complete coverage of all topics of interest to those involved in the
computer communications networking area. The audience includes researchers, managers and
operators of networks as well as designers and implementors.

Communications

Communications is a process of transferring information from one source to another.

Communication processes are sign-mediated interactions between at least two agents which
share a repertoire of signs and semiotic rules. Communication is commonly defined as "the
imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs".
Communication can be perceived as a two-way process in which there is an exchange and
progression of thoughts, feelings or ideas towards a mutually accepted goal or direction.

Services of X1

The objectives of keeping pace with growing business needs and enhancing
productivity could be achieved through your mobile wireless initiative

Frequencies of X1

-GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900.

-The GPRS is running at 800Mhz.

-The EDGE runs on GSM900 and GSM 1800 frequencies.

-The IEEE 802.11a/b/g standards define the general frequency bands (2.4 Ghz, 5
Ghz).

-The Bluetooth wireless technology operates on an open frequency within the 2.4
gigahertz band.

Internet Technology and Services

VoIP

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a general term for a family of transmission technologies for
delivery of voice communications over IP networks such as the Internet or other packet-
switched networks.

BLOG

A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary,
descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in
reverse-chronological order.

Types of network

PAN - Personal Area Network

PAN is a computer network organized around an individual person. Personal area

networks typically involve a mobile computer, a cell phone and/or a handheld
computing device such as a PDA. You can use these networks to transfer files
including email and calendar appointments, digital photos and music.

VPN - Virtual Private Network

A VPN utilizes public telecommunications networks to conduct private data

communications. Most VPN implementations use the Internet as the public
infrastructure and a variety of specialized protocols to support private
communications through the Internet.

WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network

A WLAN typically extends an existing wired local area network. WLAN are built by
attaching a device called the access point (AP) to the edge of the wired network. Clients
communicate with the AP using a wireless network adapter similar in function to a
traditional Ethernet adapter.
WiMax - Wireless Broadband

WiMax is the network industry term for a standard form of wireless broadband
networking. WiMax is designed to support long-distance wireless connectivity to the
Internet in areas not serviced by cable modem or DSL.

Conclusion

Computer communication, it seems, will become a much more useful networking

tool when large numbers of people with similar interests acquire access to the
technology. Though it can expedite the formation of new interpersonal networks by
overcoming the space and time barriers faced by traditional networking techniques,
it still requires a great deal of concentrated effort and resources to get the people to
use it. This problem should become increasingly minimized over the coming years
as the technological innovations become more diffused throughout society.
