UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'S RESPONSE TO

MOTION TO ALLOW PRISONER TO RECEIVE CERTAIN MAIL

Defendant-appellant Cirino Gonzalez filed a motion requesting that the

Bureau of Prisons provide him access to certain mail. The documents are

interview notes by a deputy United States Marshal. The BOP has not permitted

Gonzalez to take possession of these documents out of safety concerns because

they contain references to armaments that were used as part of Gonzalez's offense.

This Court ordered the United States to respond to Gonzalez's motion. The

Bureau of Prisons will keep the documents Gonzalez identified and permit him

access to these documents for the purpose of preparing pro se legal filings,

including attaching copies of the documents as exhibits to such filings. Gonzalez

will not however be permitted to have possession of these documents at other

times.
