Dear students,

My name is Dr. Allen Roy and along with Prof. Vittal would be your instructor for the Investment Banking
course. I would be covering the introductory part and IPO activity of investment banking in my first visit
to your campus. In his first visit Prof. Vittal would cover valuation. In my second visit I would cover
advisory services and in his second visit Prof. Vittal would cover financial engineering part.

I am writing this note to apprise you of the preparation that is required for the sessions scheduled on
26th and 27th of June 2010. The pedagogy for all the sessions would be case method. Hence, it is
required of you to be thoroughly prepared for the sessions. Kindly form groups. Each group can be a
maximum of 4 students. Having formed groups, kindly go through the material already given to you in
detail and I recommend you discuss the contents within your small groups.
