Reaction Paper (Crying Ladies)

This is a film about a mother along with her friends who were working as mourners in a
funeral of a Chinese businessman. She was newly free from the jail because she
was accused of “Estafa” which in turn, left her family especially her son into her
husband’s second family. She tried her best to be the mother of her son even
though she cannot give her son’s needs.

In this film also shows some of the customs of the Filipinos even if it is good
or bad. If you think it deeply, there are good things that we inherited from other
nations and some were also bad but in all of these things, there is nothing wrong in
believing in these customs. We also can say that this film is high-spirited and good-
natured; Crying Ladies never loses touch with reality.

In "Crying Ladies," three Filipino friends live modestly but dream big, with hopes that
work as mourners-for-hire can change their luck. Living in squatters, she survives on whatever
work she can find and seizes an opportunity to have five days' work as a "crier" during the
wakes preceding a traditional Chinese funeral as well as at the elaborate ceremony. We can
learn on this that we must strive hard on our lives and do not lose hope because each one of us
has something to do and God will not provide us problems if we cannot handle it. Be positive
because positive people attract good charm and luck in this life and believe in the power of our
minds because if we think of something to be achieved then we could really achieve it with
discipline and perseverance.
