A. Motivation
• The teacher will show pictures and let the students identify the names of each
picture. Make it sure that you can come up with your target lesson (Nouns –
common and proper).

B. Presentation
• Using all the answers of the student, the teacher will let the student classify the
words that start with small letters and big letters. Ask the questions:
1. What do you call the words that are names of places, people, things and
animals?
2. What do you call the words that use to refer to general manes of people,
places and things?
3. What do you the words the use to refer to specific names of people, places
and things?
• The teacher will discuss the theories about Common and Proper Nouns. Present
more examples.(refer to the attached notes A1.1a)
• With the use of student’s answers, discuss singular/ plural nouns. (refer to the
attached notes A1.2a)
• Give the rules in forming plural nouns.(refer to the attached notes A1.2b)
C. Application:
Underline the common nouns and encircle the proper nouns in the sentences.
Give the plural form for each given noun.

Nouns are name words that name places, things, animals, people and ideas.
Nouns that give exact names of places, persons, animals, things and events are
called proper nouns. Each proper noun begins with a capital letter.
Nouns that do not give exact names are called common nouns. They are
written beginning in small letters.

Singular Nouns
Singular nouns are nouns that name one person, place, or thing. For
example: boy, girl, toy, game, cat, dog, etc.
Plural Nouns
Plural Nouns are nouns that name more than one noun. For example:
boys, girls, toys, games, cats, dogs, etc.
