EWING — Ewing’s two police unions struck out yesterday in Mercer County Superior Court where Judge Linda Feinberg denied
them an injunction to prevent Ewing Township from laying off 6 cops for up to 90 days.

Feinberg said the case belongs before the state Civil Service Commission.

Afterwards, Merick Limsky, the attorney for Ewing’s PBA Local 111 and the Superior Officers Association, said “the PBA is
disappointed with the ruling.”

While individuals can take their cases to Civil Service, Limsky said he questions whether unions can appeal on behalf of the 6
patrol division officers, whose Aug. 18 layoff postponed for 30 days by Mayor Jack Ball.

“I’ll be looking into whether the unions can appeal to Civil Service,” Limsky said outside Feinberg’s courtroom following the 2 p.m.
hearing.

Attorney David J. Kenny, representing the township, said the ruling means the township can move forward with the layoffs now set
for Sept. 17. Kenny is the law partner of Township Attorney Michael Hartsough.
