Description
The Adenovirus is a double-stranded DNA virus. It has icosahedral
capsids with twelve vertices and seven surface proteins. It is about 70 to 90 nm
in size and encodes about thirty proteins.
How to Prevent It
The best way to prevent from getting the adenovirus is to have good
hygiene. Wash your hands all the time will help prevent this too. You also need
to have clean water and if you are to go swimming you should swim in a pool that
is chlorinated.
How it Attacks
It attacks by getting into you respiratory system or by hand-to-eye contact.
If you do not wash your hands then you are more likely to get this virus in the
form of pink-eye.
Injuries to Victim
The injuries to the victims of the adenovirus can be Acute Respiratory Disease,
Pneumonia, and Pink-Eye.
Statistics
The enteric adenovirus causes 5 to 20 percent of the gastroenteritis in
young children. It is also the second most common cause of gastroenteritis in
this age group(1-3).
