Paldhui Gram Panchayat under Ramnagar-II Block in Purba Medinipur, where 3800

families were exist. Here the main source of income is cultivation of Pan. Not only the
G.P, the Ramnagar-I & Ramnagar-II Block is famous about cultivation of Pan.

In this Gram Panchayat every families are familiar about “NREGS”, but 87.87%
families were applied for job card and also got their job card. Among these, not a single
family kept the information of their unemployment days. Here everybody has to do their
work for 7-8 hours but some times some body taken rest for 1 & 1.5 hours i.e. he doing
lesser work in the same payment. Here some self help group who supervise the work.
Still the date there is no family who made a application for job in unemployment
situation because Paldhui G.P is unable to provide sufficient information about their work
so there is no family who got the unemployment allowance. Up to this date the families
did only few types of work like Plantation, Road construction, and etc. The households
collect their wages from Bank or from Samabai Bank after 1.5 or 2 months of work
completion. In case of wage collection, he is the eligible person, in whose name the Bank
account is made.

As per my survey to 33 households in Paldhui Gram Panchayat the average no. of

working days which they got in 2009-10 is 6 days. The information of work mainly
provided by the Panchayat after the meeting is held. But every household is not able to
get the information of work. That is why 60% household were known about work i.e.
what to do and where to do by Gram Panchayat and 40% household were known after
start of work. Here work is done in hourly basis like 7-8 hours in a day. So there is no
question of predetermined standard. In this G.P 50% households did not know what to do
in unemployment situation i.e. they don’t know that they have to make an application in
unemployment situation. The wages rate taken by the household up to 31.12.2009 Rs. 81.
