- Neodređeni član NEMA množinu. Imenica u množini stoji ili bez člana ili
se ispred nje stavlja some ili any, što zavisi od toga da li je rečenica
potvrdna, upitna ili odrična.
ex.
I saw a boy running up the street.
- I saw (some) boys running up the street.

Did you see a boy running up this street?

- Did you see any boys running up the street?

I did not see a boy running up the street?

- I didn’t see any boys running up the street.

Upotreba:

1) Neodređeni član se upotrebljava samo u jednini.

ex. I want a cup of coffee. Are you looking for a

spoon?
It’s a fine day, isn’t it? Have a cigarette?
She is a nice girl.

2) Kada se brojiva imenica u jednini pominje po prvi put u rečenici.

ex. A man went into a bar with a friend.

3) Ispred naziva zanimanja.

ex. I’m a teacher. She is an architect.

My father is a nuclear scientist.

4) Ispred zajedničkih imenica da označe celu vrstu.

ex. A cow gives us milk. A bird has two wings.

5) Ispred uzvika sa what + brojiva imenica.

ex. What a lovely day! What a pity!

6) Ispred hundred, thousand, million, dozen, umesto one.

ex. A dozen eggs, please. I’ve read a hundred pages.

It’s about thousand dollars. A million and a half.

7) Ispred imena pripadnika narodnosti kada se radi o jednom licu.

ex. A Chinese An Italian A Spanish

8) U sledećim izrazima:

ex. It’s a pity. To be at a loss. To be in a

hurry.
All of a sudden. In a short time. For a change.

9) Posle reči once u sledećim izrazima.

ex. Once a day/week/month/year

IZOSTAVLJA SE:

1) Ispred apstraktnih imenica upotrebljenih u opštem smislu.

ex. We sang songs of love and peace. Life is beautiful.

We are very fond of music. Travel completes our education.

2) Ispred gradivnih imenica upotrebljenih u opštem smislu.

ex. We buy bread at the baker’s. Do you take sugar in your tea?
The table is made of wood. Alan won’t eat cheese and meat.

3) Ispred imena jezika.

ex. We are studying English. Do you speak French?

NAPOMENA:
Ako se posle imena jezika stavi reč language, upotrebljava se određeni član the.

ex. the English/ German/ Greek language
